The US Open is currently underway at Flushing Meadows, and tennis expert Evan Psarras has provided us with his best betting plays of Day 11.
It took three tight sets for Andreeva to get the better of Potapova with her inconsistency almost proving costly. She made 48 unforced errors for the match including 8 double faults which is an alarming number – especially with Gauff being her upcoming opponent. Gauff won the all-American battle against Jovic and it was her defensive prowess that was the difference. Jovic struck a total of only 9 winners and made 30 unforced errors which is like what we saw from Andreeva. With this in mind, it is not a surprise that Gauff is a perfect 5-0 against Andreeva. One of those wins was at the US Open in 2023 in a match where Andreeva had twice as many errors as winners. This is a bad matchup for Andreeva and one where the crowd will also play a part. Rybakina is coming off a statement win over Osaka. Many were predicting a tight match but Rybakina had other ideas in a 6-1 6-4 win that took a little more than an hour. She won 87% of 1st serve points and 50% behind her 2nd serve which made it impossible for Osaka to get into return games. It was a similar story for Zheng as she stunned Swiatek in straight sets. Swiatek is renowned for breaking serve at will but Zheng was only broken twice despite making only 41% of her first serves. Winning 83% of those points helped but the match was won off the ground where she had more winners and fewer unforced errors. Rybakina leads the H2H 4-1 which includes wins in their two battles this season. They were anything but one way traffic with Rybakina winning the deciding set 7-5 in Doha before coming from a set down to beat Zheng in Madrid. It is worth noting that Zheng was not in the form she is now leading into either of those matches which means she is a significantly greater threat this time around. Zheng is over the odds.
