Off The Scales (#8) is a locally trained 3yo gelding by Turn Me Loose, second-up off the back of a handy debut effort at this course and distance last month where he ran a brave race for 3rd. With little speed engaged on paper in this one, he should settle ahead of midfield with cover from his low draw under Joe Doyle. Looks hard to beat with natural improvement expected from his debut. 

Confectionist (#4) won by 1L here last start, coming from off the speed to swamp race rival Perfect Dividends. She looks well placed on the minimum again here carrying just 54kg, and with a similarly strong tempo expected here she should once more get to settle midfield off the speed. Michael McNab takes the reins again, and she can go back-to-back. 

The Sweetest Song (#8) is a locally trained 3yo Ribchester filly on debut for Shaune Ritchie & Colm Murray. She has trialled nicely ahead of her debut with a comfortable win in her latest hit-out here at this track. Only an even speed looks likely on paper, which should see her settle up on speed from her nice handy barrier. Bold debut showing expected. 

Pink Gin (#2) finished 2nd, beaten 0.3L, last start after getting a great run throughout but unable to reel in the winner off a moderate tempo. With a genuine speed expected to be on here, she should settle back in the field with cover from her middle draw. As the class mare of the race she has to carry some weight, which has been reduced to 57.5kg after Sam McNab’s claim. She’ll take some beating in this lineup if they run along at a genuine tempo as anticipated. 

Silkdegrees (#4) finished 2nd, beaten 0.5L, last start, poking through to the inside of runners with a likely-looking bid but unable to get past the leader. With little speed expected again here, he should get across to settle ahead of midfield with cover from a nice low draw (if not leading). Looks well placed carrying just 51kg again here after Joe Nishizuka’s claim, and can go one better in what looks an even field of stayers on paper. 

Havana Love (#10) is a 4yo mare by Alabama Express, first-up for Chad Ormsby this campaign. She’s had the benefit of a trial to prepare her for this, where she was finding the line nicely without being asked for much of an effort. From the wide draw, and with little natural speed elsewhere in the field, with a positive rice she could well follow Force Of Law across into a handy spot early. Can run a big race first-up in what appears to be a very winnable maiden. 

Think I Got Cha (#2) is locally trained by Karen Nicholson, coming here off a solid last start effort for 2nd, beaten 0.7L behind Perfect Dividends. He was seen making up good ground from the back of the field last start and I expect he may well settle back of midfield again in what looks a moderately run race. He possesses the turn of foot to have the measure of these late should that map eventuate.
