The TAB has Toy Show Quality tips and predictions for the Group 3 1100m race at Randwick on Saturday, which features a small but stellar field.
Toy Show Quality odds have Apocalyptic as the $2.25 favourite, and she should prove tough to beat.
There’s a lot to like about this 4YO mare heading into her first run of the campaign. She’s never missed the top two in three first-up attempts, and she boasts an excellent record around Randwick.
Her track stats make for good reading, with three wins and two placings from six starts. She’s also looked sharp in the lead-up, most recently beating Chilly Girl and Headwall in a trial, which gives us plenty of confidence heading into Saturday.
Tommy Berry has started the season in fine touch, adding another tick to the box. We’re comfortable taking the $2.25 with the TAB. She is a mare with $1.1 million in prize money, and she clearly has plenty of class, so she goes on top of our Toy Show Quality predictions.

| First-up. Finished off last campaign fourth of 8 at this track in the G1 Surround February 28 over 1400m, soft track; 5 len behind Tempted with 56kg at $5. Previously first up; second of 9 at this track in the G2 Lghtfinger February 14 over 1200m, 0.8 len behind Savvy Hallie with 56kg at $1.50. Multiple Group winner who looks set for a good prep. | |||
Savvy Hallie looks the one most likely to give Apocalyptic a scare in the Toy Show Quality, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see her go very close.
The 4YO Hellbent mare has always shown plenty of talent and looks like the type of horse who could land a nice race during the Sydney Spring Carnival. She could get her campaign off to the perfect start at Randwick.
There’s also some handy form behind her. Savvy Hallie beat Apocalyptic by just under a length in February before finishing second to Tempted at Group 1 level. That’s a strong enough form line for us, and she has every right to be right in the finish again.
We’re keen on the $3.70 available, with that price making her one of the better value plays in the race. She’s a clear quinella chance and, if she’s come back in the right shape, we can see her giving the favourite a serious run for her money.

| Mare returning from a spell and has won previously when first up. Finished off last campaign 11th of 14 at Rosehill in the G1 Coolmore March 14 over 1500m, 5 len behind Lazzura carrying 55kg at $4.20. First up last campaign fourth of 12 at Gold Coast Sunlight January 10 over 1100m, 2.5 len behind Grafterburners with 55kg at $7.50. Proven at this level and will take catching. | |||
We’re not expecting Stardom to cause a massive boilover here, but she’s definitely worth throwing into first-four combinations.
The Waterhouse/Bott mare only managed fourth at Doomben last start, so she’ll need to lift a few levels to challenge the main hopes. That said, 53kg is a nice weight, and Rachel King taking the ride is another reason not to leave her out.
Her two recent trial placings suggest she’s going well enough, too. She’s not the one we want to build the race around, but at the current odds, Stardom makes sense as a first-four inclusion.

| Resumes after a break of three months and has been in the money when fresh before. Finished off last campaign fourth of 13 at Doomben Darby Mccarthy May 23 over 1110m, soft track; 1.4 len behind Earn To Burn with 55.5kg at $5.50. First up last campaign ninth of 17 at this track in the G3 P J Bell April 4 over 1200m, soft track; 3.5 len behind Plaintiff carrying 56.5kg at $71. Expected to feature after the two sharp trials. | |||
Punters get value odds with our Toy Show Quality SRM, which includes our three selected runners.
We have Apocalyptic Top 2, Savvy Hallie Top 2, and Stardom Top 4, which pays $7.75 at the TAB. Considering the size of the field, our SRM is worth taking, in what could be a tactical affair over the sprinting distance.
