He looked to have a better field in a lot of trouble last week turning for home but a mistake cost Treasure Cove (4). He can do that from time to time but when he’s on song, he’s a pretty serious horse and it would come as no shock, back behind the mobile tonight, if he came out and dominated this field.

A really strong debut last time out by Queensland Spirit (12) and she looked a trotting filly with a bit of a future ahead of her. Seems sensible too which is always a bonus for the maiden trotters and if able to plot a path through to a handy spot early then looks well in commission here.

Expect plenty of natural benefit to come from the debut effort of Crunchy Granola (4) at Timaru. Made up a lot of ground inside the final lap and was good through the line. Clearly has a motor and from the good draw tonight should get onto the speed and be a major player in this.

Two really good runs in the last two efforts from Major Cyclone (6) and should be ready to strike tonight third up from a spell. Trots the bend really well but gets a little lost in the straights, but tonight that might not be an issue as in terms of class there’s none here that’ll go with him.

Thought Amaretto Franco’s (7) first up run here last week was super and she’ll have taken a lot of benefit from that. A really smart mare when she’s on song, she could look to get handy early here and control this and have the class to hold of all challenges, or she can be just as dangerous coming off a hot speed.

In terms of point-to-point speed, not sure there’s any in here that could match Time For Victory (7). Smashed the clock again last week and wouldn’t have even registered on most people’s radar. Needs to get away a bit better and land handier but can certainly have the final say.

A lack of race fitness might be the only concern here for Cinderella Franco (11) because she may have this field at her mercy in terms of ability and speed. Last start second behind Dynasty and given a freshen since, if she’s close enough turning for home she’ll roll on by them all.

Super return to racing from the very talented Dash Dosh (9) two weeks ago and expect her to really go on from that too. Handicap to overcome here, but with her speed she just needs to be in the firing line turning for home and with fitness under the belt can get over the top of them all.

A lot to like about the way Joyride (8) stepped out here last week and delivered an impressive win. Not a huge difference in field for her here either so if she can produce something similar then don’t be surprised to see her storming home again and winning once more.

Dropping out of taking on Jumal and co. in a Gr.1 at the last start, Flying Ace (7) should find tonight’s assignment a little more to the liking. Can be driven for one run at them and have the final say and in a small field shouldn’t be too far off them when it counts. Looks a great bet to end the night.
