Matt Markham has been through the form guide and speed maps and has provided his race analysis and betting strategy for each of the eight races at the Invercargill Harness meeting on Sunday 9 August below:
Super run at Addington second-up from a spell by Kings Choice (3) when beaten by the talented Lexicon. Sneaks down south for this and looks incredibly well placed and would need to go no better than that last start effort to be winning here.
Selections: 3-4-2-1-6
3. Kings Choice (3) J: Nathan Williamson 35×62 T: Phil Williamson
A smart type from the Darren Keast barn, Luxmi (6) returns here today off the back of an encouraging first campaign and a good spell. No trials or workouts to ready for this, but will be good to rock and roll and this does look a very winnable sort of race.
Selections: 6-5-8-2-4
6. Luxmi (6) J: Mark Hurrell 41x T: Darren Keast
Superb effort first up from the new barn by Rising Storm (3) last time out. A much more like the Rising Storm we saw early on in the career. Finds a similar field here and works from a favourable draw so should be on the speed and ready to strike.
Selections: 3-13-15-2-5
3. Rising Storm (3) J: Brent Barclay 959×2 T: Mark Shirley
A surprise mistake when heavily supported last time out by Becky’s Girl (6) but it might just pay to rule a line through that one. The win prior was excellent and that sort of form would be hard to contend with here. Will need to be good, some smart rivals but does look the best of them.
Selections: 6-5-4-2-1
6. Becky’s Girl (6) J: Matthew Williamson 23×18 T: Phil Williamson
Left a little flat-footed behind a potentially very smart one last week, Off The Canvas (5) should have taken considerable benefit from that run and should be ready to strike here today. Nice enough draw to work from and if able to find the markers then looks hard to stop.
Selections: 5-6-9-12-13
5. Off The Canvas (5) J: Nathan Williamson 256×2 T: Nathan Williamson
Plenty of talk around about the quality of Redback Bob (6) prior to his debut last week and the talk was right on the money with a stunning effort. Looks a trotter of real quality and even stepping up in grade here it would be no surprise to see him go back-to-back.
Selections: 6-3-10-9-4
6. Redback Bob (6) J: Nathan Williamson 1 T: Phil Williamson
Plenty to like about the debut win of Cheer Up N Dance (1) last time out and it definitely won’t be the last success. Goes up in grade, but lands the all-important inside draw and if able to hold up and be close enough turning for home then can easily go back-to-back.
Selections: 1-2-10-6-7
1. Cheer Up N Dance (1) J: Nathan Williamson 1 T: Nathan Williamson
Really promising pacer Justaweesip (5) steps out here and looks on track to extend her already tidy career record. She’s been knocking around in some strong fields of late and if able to find a good spot here early then should be running home strong at the finish.
Selections: 5-10-6-9-4
5. Justaweesip (5) J: Peter Hunter x5534 T: Peter Hunter
