Matt Markham gives his best in all races at Addington Harness on Friday, October 9.
Just held up enough here near the top of the straight last week to make a difference, but perhaps this is the week that Always Be Batman (4) takes bad luck out of the equation. Good draw to use and he’s a quality horse who if able to find the markers and control things would prove awfully hard to run down.
Selections: 4-8-7-5-1
4. Always Be Batman (4) J: Hayden Douglas 6×235 T: Robert & Jenna Dunn
A mistake fresh up at Oamaru put an end to the chances of Axel Rose (7) but he’s too good of a trotter to drop just on that. Needs to get away well here tonight but if able to trot forward and be handy to the speed he’s shown he’s capable running his rivals into the dirt over the final 800m. Looks a big chance.
Selections: 7-12-13-10-14
7. Axel Rose (7) J: Matthew Williamson 211×9 T: Matthew Williamson
Up from the deep south but arriving with a pretty big reputation Captain Wolf (5) is at a lovely price this week for his first look at Addington. Has high speed which he can hold for a very long way and if he gets up onto the speed turning for home then he’s going to take plenty of stopping.
Selections: 5-4-12-13-11
5. Captain Wolf (5) J: Mark Hurrell 42×1 T: Tony Stratford
Addington has so far not been a very happy hunting ground for Imperious Girl (7) with mistakes in both runs. Just wanted to get in on the stables turn last week and rolled into a break. The blinds go on this week and if she can find the markers early then she’ll be well on her way. Big talent, but we need to see it.
Selections: 7-8-11-6-5
7. Imperious Girl (7) J: Craig Ferguson 11xd0 T: Craig Ferguson
One of a few very short-priced runners doing battle here tonight and I’m The Boss (2) looks to have the easiest path to victory of them all. Brilliant winning here last week and showed great staying attributes. Might not need them here against the small field but expect her to be in front and out of trouble and delivering.
Selections: 2-4-6-3-1
2. I’m The Boss (2) J: Blair Orange 21×11 T: Hayden & Amanda Cullen
Has been untouchable in two runs to the races so far and no surprise if Eyes Wide Open (7) delivers up more of the same here tonight. Big wins, both of them but it’s also looked like there is more there if required which doesn’t bode well for the rivals tonight.
Selections: 7-12-4-3-5
7. Eyes Wide Open (7) J: Blair Orange 11 T: Hayden & Amanda Cullen
Really strong first up run in the south last time out by Princess Gracy (12) behind the flying Arafura. This is a little easier tonight and with a couple of scratchings, she’s in pretty well. Should be able to get close enough to wind up when needed at the top of the straight and get over them all.
Selections: 12-13-9-11-10
12. Princess Gracy (3) J: Zachary Butcher 352×3 T: Zachary Butcher
Immense run first up from a spell by Jumal (7) to win here two weeks ago and the scary thing is he’s only going to be better for that run too. Has this crop at his mercy it would seem and tonight looks set to roll on forward and find the front and win again.
Selections: 7-2-8-6-1
7. Jumal (7) J: Blair Orange 111×1 T: Steven Reid
Brilliant winning the DG Jones here a couple of weeks ago, Habibti Pat (4 ) has really emerged as one of our leading contenders for the Dominion. Shapes well here off the front for her if she can trot away and get handy or even lead because she’s proving awfully hard to run down.
Selections: 4-14-1-3-7
4. Habibti Pat (4) J: Blair Orange 81×31 T: Greg & Ben Hope
A surprise flop here last week by Tour Party (3) but he’s simply too good to drop off one below par performance. Good draw to use to get handy and if he runs up to his best then he’s well in play here and should be hard to run down in what is a quality field of two-year-olds.
Selections: 3-9-10-11-6
3. Tour Party (3) J: Carter Dalgety 1×215 T: Cran & Chrissie Dalgety
Exciting North Island filly Ride The Waves (7) steps out here for the first time and brings down a decent reputation with her. Has been massive in her last couple of runs despite getting beaten and if she chooses to roll forward tonight then she should find the markers and be hard to stop.
Selections: 7-9-8-13-11
7. Ride The Waves (7) J: Maurice McKendry 51122 T: Steve & Amanda Telfer
Talented type Cee Whata Mickee (3) kicks off a new campaign here and it should be a campaign in which he marches his way up the grades. Finds a good race to kickstart things in and if able to do everything right and be there when it counts then he’ll take a heap of running past.
Selections: 3-2-12-5-4
3. Cee Whata Mickee (3) J: Sam Thornley 13×27 T: Ken Barron
