Matt Markham gives his best in all races at Winton Harness on Sunday 3 May.
An eye-catching run last time out when first up for the new stable for Mr President (2) really charged through the line with a lot of purpose. This field here today is no stronger that that one, if any a little weaker and with a nice trip from the good draw should be able to play a decent role.
Selections: 2-1-10-8-5
2. Mr President (2) J: Mark Hurrell 50583T: Tony Stratford
A lot better than the debut performance, expect Dragon Ball (1) to be a player today. The trial and workout form had been really sharp and with the aid of an inside draw here should be able to get into a strong position and show a lot more of the potential we’ve seen.
Selections: 1-2-9-7-3
1. Dragon Ball (1) J: Brent Barclay 6T: Brent McIntyre
Perfect set up here today for Jordan Anne (1). Racing in great fettle and with some gate speed to use should be making the most of the ace draw and looking to control this race from the top end. Distance suits and with own terms will be very hard to run down.
Selections: 1-6-2-5-3
1. Jordan Anne (1) J: Hayden Douglas 91523T: Matthew Williamson
Dropping out of some very strong races of late, expect Why Not Me (5) to play a big role here. Hasn’t been far away against some good ones and this wee drop back in grade will play right into the hands. Looks hard to beat from the front line draw.
Selections: 5-13-3-4-11
5. Why Not Me (5) J: Craig Ferguson 394T: Des Baynes
Manners, manners and more manners. That is all that is required from He Aint Fakin (10). No doubt the motor is there but just looks to try and go a little too quick for his own good at times and rolls off stride. Might be better here out of the early rush and with a bit of rhythm can win this.
Selections: 10-6-9-8-7
10. He Aint Fakin (10) J: Brad Williamson 3601pT: Phil Williamson
A lot of good of late from Tabasco (3) but not winning form. This is the best opportunity for a long time though and with a good draw should be rolling forward and looking to make a serious play toward success here in what looks a very winnable race.
Selections: 3-6-7-2-4
3. Tabasco (3) J: Max Hill 63525T: Brad Williamson
Taken out of play early last week, Dame West (12) gets a chance to atone here today. Form stacks up really well and with a bit of luck from the second row can be launching into it over the final stages and getting home over the top of them all.
Selections: 12-4-2-11-1
12. Dame West (4) J: Madison Kyle 2222pT: Gavin Johnstone
A superb debut effort from Imperious Girl (4) and it won’t be the last time she is victorious on a race track either. Bit of a step up here taking on some seasoned types, but natural ability and raw speed will carry a very long way and with manners is the one to beat.
Selections: 4-3-13-2-12
4. Imperious Girl (4) J: Craig Ferguson 1T: Craig Ferguson
Big win on debut and then went to Addington and was far from disgraced in a good field that the form has stacked up to. Back down in the home region here and gets a golden opportunity to return to winning form. Wide draw a little concern, but should be able to get across them.
Selections: 7-10-11-6-5
7. Picasso (7) J: Craig Ferguson 15T: Craig Ferguson
