Matt Markham gives his best in all races at Invercargill Harness on Monday 1 June.
Has been rocketing home from tricky spots in his last few starts but today might be the day that Rightazz (10) can get home first. Racing super and just needs a little bit of luck and with a nice run through from the second line can become a major player here.
Selections: 10-2-1-11-5
10. Rightazz (2) J: Brad Williamson 47882T: Alister Black
Worked around to outside the leader last week and Daisymerollin (10) wasn’t bad in defeat. Getting better and a lot more reliable these days and this does look like a winning opportunity. Just needs to trot away and get into the right spot.
Selections: 10-1-7-6-3
10. Daisymerollin (10) J: Brent Barclay 42354T: Brett Gray
Super effort first up from a spell by Train Station (9) last time out and while tucked away on the second row here, would only need a little bit of luck early to get off and become the horse they all need to beat. This race isn’t as strong as the first up run either so looks well placed.
Selections: 9-11-5-10-4
9. Train Station (1) J: Brad Williamson 729×2T: Alister Black
Expect a much sharper Bettor Off (5) to step out here today after the first up run at Rangiora. On her better days, she’s pretty talented and wouldn’t have too many problems handling this field. Draw could be a little niggly but might look to roll forward and control things.
Selections: 5-3-1-4-2
| 5. Bettor Off (5) Scratched: | |||
Super performance last week to hold off a pretty talented trotter by Aveross Majesty (7). Is a horse who when he finds a bit of form he tends to hold onto it for a while too so it would come as no surprise to see him go back-to-back in what is a wide open field.
Selections: 7-5-8-6-3
7. Aveross Majesty (7) J: Madison Kyle 53361T: Denis O’Connell
A beautifully bred filly, Stranger Things (3) has stepped out in some very strong races to open her career and has done a strong job as well. Lands a good barrier draw today and gets the right driver in Carter Dalgety on to perhaps roll forward and dominate this from the front. That’d make it hard for the key rivals.
Selections: 3-13-6-7-9
3. Stranger Things (3) J: Carter Dalgety 32×67T: Katrina & John Price
Has done a decent job since quitting maidens has Mama’s Crunch (11) taking on a couple of pretty decent fields and acquitting herself well. Finds a much more even contest today and if she gets any luck early from the second row she looks the horse they’ll need to beat here.
Selections: 11-14-13-5-9
11. Mamas Crunch (3) J: Nikita Burton 72146T: Steve & Amanda Telfer
The mobile conditions today look to really suit Mor Moonlight (10) who has had to do some chasing off marks of late. Talented trotting mare with a bit ahead of her and if she wants to take those next steps, then she really should be winning this contest today.
Selections: 10-7-9-5-6
10. Mor Moonlight (2) J: Craig Ferguson 13344T: Kirstin Green
Super run here for second last time out from Deceptive Lee (5) and wouldn’t need to go much better here to salute. Has taken on some really good fields this campaign and this looks a prime chance to get another win on the board, especially with Blair Orange in the bike.
Selections: 5-8-7-2-1
5. Deceptive Lee (5) J: Blair Orange 05952T: David Mitchell
Couple of super runs since joining the new barn from Dream Street (5) and finds a really nice race here today. Will need to find a spot from the barrier draw but with a cold shot at them can join in and have the final say over the top of them all.
Selections: 5-2-9-3-4
5. Dream Street (5) J: Carter Dalgety 54×13T: Brent Shirley
