Some really nice work of late from Shezza Vinny (10) in handy enough fields and despite a second row draw here, looks a major player. Should track through nicely on the back of one that’s set to go forward and with a nice run on the speed can have a say at winning this late in the piece.

In terms of ability, there wouldn’t be many in this line up that could go with Pontiff (8) but the manners are proving costly for followers. Nice race today though, the weakest they’ve faced for a while and if he can trot all the way then he won’t be far away.

A winner two starts back, and a good winner at that, Wild East (8) took on a pretty smart field last time out and wasn’t far away. Should find this a whole lot easier and from the draw might be driven for one run at them. Can have the final say too.

First up for the year as a three-year-old, Jay Jay Denario (6) comes south from Christchurch in search of some winning form. Chased behind some pretty smart types last season as a two-year-old and with time on the side should be in for a good campaign. Can kickstart in the right fashion here as well.

Expect plenty of improvement from the first up run of Stumblin In (6). Was good on that occasion but beaten by one with race fitness on the side. Small field here suits and a confident Blair Orange drive will net a positive result today for followers.

The exciting Mor Moonlight (5) returns here today chasing a third win in a row. Manners are the key, because with them her motor might just be a little too fine tuned for anything else in the race. Can’t afford to miss a beat though as there are some who will jump if the opportunity arises.

A strong first up win at Ashburton set the tone for the campaign for the talented Ebony Arden (3). She’s always looked like a horse who would get better with time on her side and she should be in for a good campaign. Nice draw to work with here and she’ll be going close.

In terms of ability, Father Ned (6) should have most of this field covered. Trekked up to Canterbury and was far from disgraced in his effort against a good field. Manners seem good which is always a bonus and if he’s able to find the right kind of trip he’ll go close today.

A nice type in the making, expect Rising Storm (4) to show some nice improvement from the first up run. This is an easier assignment too and from the good draw should be close enough to the speed to go close to success today with the right amount of luck.

Two tidy runs up at Cromwell to kick off the campaign should have Always Be Batman (7) ready to rock and roll for the coming months. Finds a good field today, but he’s a classy customer and if he runs anywhere up to near his best then he’ll be hard to stop here.
