Matt Markham gives his best in all races at Rangiora Harness on Thursday, November 20.
Probably a horse who should have won more races than she has, but Don’t Tell Jenny (4) looks incredibly well placed here. Brave run at Kaikoura in a good field and if she can range up at the right time and work her way onto the speed, she’ll be hard to beat and look out for the celebrations.
Selections: 4-8-6-2-3

So far it’s been a case of doing everything but winning in the career of Something Else (8). Some big runs, especially recently though including placings behind The Will and Pontiff in the last two. Small field here really suits and if she does everything right she should win today.
Selections: 8-5-7-6-4
8. Something Else (0) J: John Dunn 20534T: Paul Nairn
Two really good runs back from a spell from Franco Tim (5) this campaign and a really impressive trial in between them too. Cup Day run was very good in a strong field and looks really well placed here today. He’ll be charging late.
Selections: 5-4-7-3-6
5. Franco Tim (5) J: Henry Sail 50×48T: Chris Thornley
He’s got a few tricks up the sleeve, but Here Comes Marty (7) is the best horse in this race by a wee way. Drawn out wider may help and if he can find the right kind of run, expect him to charge over the top of them late and go very close in this.
Selections: 7-2-4-11-8
7. Here Comes Marty (7) J: Robbie Close 37158T: Andrew Stuart
A strong return to racing with a good second to Donna’s Boy from Paramount Lady (1). That was back in September though, so a wee while in between runs. That said, ability wise, she’s the best horse in this race and should be able to make a strong play with manners.
Selections: 1-5-6-7-9
1. Paramount Lady (1) J: Samantha Ottley 778×2T: Mark Jones
Big effort to run second at Ashburton last week from Spirit Of Atlanta (2) behind a pretty smart one. Has built beautifully through the first five starts in the career and appears to be ready now to strike and finds the right race to make it happen.
Selections: 2-7-5-4-1
2. Spirit Of Atlanta (2) J: Robbie Holmes 64332T: Robbie Holmes
Not a lot has gone right in the past two starts for Courage Reactor (12) but he gets a good chance to bounce back to good form here in a wide open field. Will need the right kind of run to make it happen, but can swoop on them late if the opportunity presents.
Selections: 12-6-13-4-7
12. Courage Reactor (12) J: Wilson House 33200T: Michael House
Sharp improvement from the first start to the second by Suspicious Captain (3) was really good making up a lot of ground from back in the field. Might look to have one crack at them again and certainly has the speed to get the job done.
Selections: 3-1-4-7-5
3. Suspicious Captain (3) J: Carter Dalgety 02T: Cran & Chrissie Dalgety
Really nice set up here for Granny Rose (1) today. In good form and running some big races in handy fields. Lands the ace and should punch out and hold a forward position and if able to perhaps trail then would take plenty of catching up the lane.
Selections: 1-5-3-4-2
1. Granny Rose (1) J: Blair Orange 53034T: Matt Purvis
Nice effort late at Ashburton from Longview Tui (2) in behind Justyouwait. Should get a sweet trip here from the inside barrier draw and has shown with a cold shot at them can be quite dangerous late and there’s a nice quote to get involved each way.
Selections: 2-4-8-3-7
2. Longview Tui (2) J: Sam Thornley 27174T: Ken Barron
