Matt Markham gives his best in all races at Cambridge Harness on Friday, November 14.
He’s carried support in all four of his runs back from a spell and tonight might be the night that Another Collect (6) finally delivers for the faithful. Onto a front line draw that’s devoid of early speed a confident drive early should net the lead and from there it’s a case of holding them all out.
Selections: 6-10-4-12-7
6. Another Collect (6) J: Harrison Orange x5426T: Barry Purdon & Scott Phelan
Probably no doubting that on ability alone that Southern Diamond (6) is the best horse in this field. Just hasn’t quite been as sharp in the last couple of runs as you’d expect. Gets a chance to turn that around here and with manners will be very hard to beat today.
Selections: 6-3-5-9-8
6. Southern Diamond (0) J: Harrison Orange 2×374T: Barry Purdon & Scott Phelan
It’s a little surprising that a victory hasn’t fallen the way of Abman (6) yet but surely today is the day things turn around. Really consistent for a long time now and often in fields much stronger than this. Good enough to make his own luck and get the job done.
Selections: 6-2-1-5-7
6. Abman (6) J: Benjamin Butcher 23532T: Benjamin Butcher
A lot to like about the first up run of So Mystifying (14) last time out when second behind Rubble On The Double. Better for the run and even off the 20m handicap here has a class edge on most of the rivals. Just needs to step quickly to eat up the handicap.
Selections: 14-11-4-12-7
14. So Mystifying (0) J: Emily Johnson 730×2T: Sean McCaffrey
The talented and often underrated Sunset Strip (10) resumes here off the back of a good spell. Has had a couple of public runs to ready and given some of the efforts in the last campaign, including a second to Greased Lightnin, looks primed to run a big race here.
Selections: 10-2-4-3-6
10. Sunset Strip (10) J: James Stormont 5268xT: Derek & Neita Balle
A much better run last time out here 10 days ago when finishing second from Viscount Mackendon (11). Probably the best horse in the race in terms of ability but often has been let down by manners. Needs to trot here, but can do that and give them plenty to think about.
Selections: 11-1-10-8-5
11. Viscount Mackendon (5) J: Bernie Hackett 44672T: Michelle Wallis & Bernie Hackett
Everyone wanted to tip Mako (8) at Alexandra Park last week but after getting trapped three wide his run was short lived. Much better set up here and should be able to sit back and roar his way past this field without too much stress.
Selections: 8-3-7-4-1
8. Mako (8) J: Kate Coppins 8×136T: Arna Donnelly
Everybody’s multi anchor for the night Booty Shaker (2) looks awfully hard to beat here today off the back of her cracking second behind Time For Change at Auckland two weeks ago. Lands a great draw to work from and should dominate from the top end and be a little too good for them .
Selections: 2-3-7-9-6
2. Booty Shaker (2) J: David Butcher 8752T: Tate Hopkins
Nice race for Jolimont (12) here. Has been very good in all of his runs back from a spell at Auckland and gets in here pretty well off just the 30m handicap. A few to get around at some point but is good enough to make his own luck in this kind of field and still deliver.
Selections: 12-10-11-4-2
12. Jolimont (1) J: Peter Ferguson 44632T: Arna Donnelly
16 starts at Cambridge for Faith In Manchester for nine times in the money including five wins. That’s good reading. She’s in good for too after a strong third last time and with a nice drag into at the right time she can have the final say tonight.
Selections: 10-11-9-7-12
10. Faith In Manchester (1) J: Todd Mitchell x3573T: Michelle Wallis & Bernie Hackett
In really strong form at the moment, Skys Legacy (10) looks really well placed here tonight. Put a line through the last run and take stock out of the Auckland efforts including placings behind Mick Konstantin and Princess Gracy. That’s winning form for a race like this.
Selections: 10-2-1-4-8
10. Skys Legacy (10) J: David Butcher 32309T: Arna Donnelly
