Matt Markham has been through the form guide and speed maps and has provided his race analysis and betting strategy for each of the eight races at the Addington Harness meeting on Wednesday 16 September below:
Nice upswing in draws today for The Beach House (1) after a couple of resuming runs through August. Not bad in either of them. Blair jumps in the bike, lands the ace in a very wide open field. A lot of boxes ticked and a nice start to the day.
Selections: 1-6-10-5-4
1. The Beach House (1) J: Blair Orange 78957 T: Michael House
Near enough efforts in the last two from Origin (4) and the fourth behind Just For Today two starts back should be good enough to win a race like this. Needs a good beginning and with one of those is on the speed early and in the right place to push for victory.
Selections: 4-1-9-7-2
4. Origin (4) J: Peter Davis 70645 T: Margo Nyhan
A long time maiden with 66 starts on the board, but Miss Woodville (7) has been pretty decent of late and in some very good maiden fields. Near enough efforts behind Rosetta Road, Nansana and Christian Bale in the last few. A bit of luck and can win this at a price.
Selections: 7-8-4-9-3
7. Miss Woodville (7) J: Wilson House 53646 T: Michael House
Stepping out of some decent recent races, Justification (3) doesn’t need much to be the top selection here. Going well and in a drop back in grade with a decent draw, should be up on the speed throughout and hard to run down.
Selections: 3-6-9-4-8
3. Justification (3) J: Blair Orange 51705 T: Mitchell Scheuber
Racing really well recently without landing the killer blow, Zoom X (5) gets a big chance here. Race fit and ready to rock and roll and against a small field will only be heading in one direction. On speed and trucking can withstand all challenges.
Selections: 5-1-7-8-3
5. Zoom X (5) J: Samantha Ottley 74823 T: Mark Jones
Big win at Ashburton five starts back and then good efforts ever since by Ocean Of Tears (1). Perhaps best in front so will be hoping for a quick beginning here to land on the speed and look to stay there. Best version of her is victorious.
Selections: 1-10-12-5-2
1. Ocean Of Tears (1) J: Kimberly Butt 41553 T: Terry McMillan
In terms of ability, nothing here matches up to Aspirational Dream (7) but she’s more likely to beat herself than anything beating her. Very keen in her recent trial, but trotted beautifully all the same. If she turns up in the right frame of mind, she’ll win.
Selections: 7-6-3-2-5
7. Aspirational Dream (7) J: John Morrison 72p9x T: Tony Barron
Some very strong runs recently from Shadow Creek (6) and in very good fields too. Fitness levels and confidence are sky high and the speed looks good here, so should sit off it and look to come at them with the final say.
Selections: 6-9-3-8-1
6. Shadow Creek (6) J: Brent Weaver 16426 T: Brent Weaver
