Matt Markham has been through the form guide and speed maps and has provided his race analysis and betting strategy for each of the eight races at the Alexandra Park Harness meeting on Friday 7 August below:
Some really strong recent efforts from Black Beauty (8) and it’s only a matter of time before she makes her way back into the winners’ circle. Right kind of race for it to happen tonight too, she should roll forward and be close to the speed at some point and be fighting out the finish.
Selections: 8-4-9-3-1
8. Black Beauty (8) J: Crystal Hackett 53143 T: Matthew White
After two very strong seconds in the last two performances, Memories (10) lands in here quite nicely. Needs a little luck from the second row, but fewer vices than any of the key rivals and if able to track through and be close enough turning for home, then is clearly the one to beat.
Selections: 10-3-11-7-1
10. Memories (2) J: Crystal Hackett 55622 T: David & Clare McGowan
One start to the races last campaign for Three Bags Full (6) in behind stablemate Coal Fire. Given a little time out to develop and looked sharp in a recent workout victory. Stable will have the boxes ticked and looks heard to beat.
Selections: 6-5-3-2-1
6. Three Bags Full (6) J: Mark Purdon 5x T: Nathan Purdon
Two strong efforts down the road at Cambridge through the Silk Road series by Mad Mary (8). She comes back to Alexandra Park with plenty of confidence under the belt and even from the wide draw here should be finding a way to be a leading player at the business end of proceedings.
Selections: 8-10-11-6-11
8. Mad Mary (8) J: Nikita Burton 34012 T: Michelle Wallis & Bernie Hackett
Handy last month at Cambridge from Another Collect (10) and once again finds a race that looks really winnable. Should get a nice enough run through from the second row early here and only needs to be close enough turning for home to become a major player.
Selections: 10-11-13-9-5
10. Another Collect (2) J: Mia Holbrough 30812 T: Barry Purdon & Scott Phelan
A bit of a hit and miss kind of set up when it comes to Bravehearthighlander (8) because the best version of him is quite dangerous, but he can throw in the odd poor performance from time to time too. On song, he’s the horse to beat here, but no one you can back with a whole lot of confidence.
Selections: 8-6-3-5-4
8. Bravehearthighlander (8) J: Riley Harrison 23148 T: Robert & Jenna Dunn
The benefit of having a run under the belt should tip the scales in favour of Jeremiah (8) here. Classy customer and should be in for a decent early Spring up here in the North. Will need a bit of luck from the wide draw but should be hard to stop.
Selections: 8-9-7-6-4
8. Jeremiah (8) J: Scott Phelan 371×2 T: Barry Purdon & Scott Phelan
Some good recent work from Royal Petite (3) and a winning turn looks close at hand. Should find this race tonight right within reach and given bad luck looks set to be taken out of the equation it would seem the night to break through is here.
Selections: 3-1-4-8-6
3. Royal Petite (3) J: Crystal Hackett 99×22 T: Michelle Wallis & Bernie Hackett
