Muchova saved a match point to prevail 12-10 in an epic match tiebreak against Gauff and the result means we will have a new Grand Slam champion. Noskova was a straight sets winner over Kostyuk in the other semi on the back of yet another dominant display on serve. She faced a single break point in the match and has dropped serve just twice across her last three matches. That is incredible at this level but she will need to avenge a loss against Muchova in their only prior clash. That took place at the US Open last year with Muchova coming from a set down to record a 6-7 6-4 6-2 win. Surprisingly, it was Noskova’s serve which was the issue with 15 double faults. She was ranked outside of the top 30 at that point and is a different player almost 12 months on. Has since made the final of a WTA1000 event and most notably won a title on grass (Berlin).
There will be no surprise tactics from either camp as they know one another’s games inside-out. After all, they claimed 4th place together in the doubles at the Olympics in 2024. Muchova does have an edge in experience having contested a major final in the past (lost to Swiatek 2023 French Open) but made a very nervous start in that match. Expecting both women to do a stellar job holding serve but Noskova’s backhand is the most dangerous shot in the match. Coupled with a willingness to move to the net, I like her chances of winning this match. It would be a nice bonus for futures followers with Noskova tipped as our best bet at $26 before a ball was hit.
