Evan Psarras previews the 2026 Wimbledon Gentlemen’s Semi-finals.
It’s the matchup we all craved once the draw was released and for the second consecutive year Sinner and Djokovic will lock horns in the semi finals of Wimbledon. Twelve months go there was no second guessing, the prediction was a crushing win for Sinner, and he delivered 6-3 6-3 6-4. A lot has happened since including Djokovic beating Sinner at the Australian Open and the Italian experiencing physical issues at the French Open. Prior to their clash at the Australian Open, Sinner had won 6 in a row against Djokovic including the last 9 sets they had played. As he has done so many times, Djokovic proved the doubters wrong on Rod Laver Arena. Despite winning fewer points, he picked his spots and saved 16 of the 18 break points that he faced. Fast forward to this tournament and the world number 1 has not been as dominant as one would expect. Of the 17 sets he has played at The Championships, 5 have been tiebreakers and he has won only one set by a double break margin. Over total games has hit in 4 of the 5 matches played for both players and looks very enticing again here. With scorching hot weather forecast, the courts will be playing very fast which will make it very difficult to break serve. Djokovic found something tactically at the Australian Open which included playing down the middle to take away the angles and pulling the trigger down he line off both wings. Can see this one developing into a five set classic.

Just how far can Arthur Fery go??? The fairy tale continued for the British wildcard as he picked apart Cobolli in straight sets for the second time this year. He won an incredible 65% of 2nd serve points and continues to rewrite the history books. The last wildcard to make it this far was Goran Ivanisevic in 2001 who would go on to beat Patrick Rafter to claim his maiden major. To get there Fery has the ‘minor’ task of beating Zverev who is riding high after breaking through for his first Grand Slam title in Paris. The German ended a 7-match losing streak against Fritz in the quarter finals but it is difficult to get a gauge on that performance as the American called for the trainer just three games into the match. His knee tendonitis flared up and he probably should have retired from the match. Zverev has a 96% success rate holding serve in the tournament and has not dropped serve more than once in any of the five matches played. An area where both men have been excellent is in the clutch. Zverev has won 5 of 6 tiebreakers played while Fery is a perfect 5 from 5. With that in mind we should see at least four sets of tennis. Overs.
