Wimbledon 2026: Gentlemen’s Day 5 Tips & Preview

Wimbledon 2026: Gentlemen’s Day 5 Tips & Preview

Order was restored in the second round with Sinner and Djokovic winning in straight sets but the world number 1 is still well of the pace with respect to his form from earlier this season. The American contingent continues to make noise with Paul, Brooksby and qualifier Michael Zheng taking the court on day 5.

Arthur Rinderknech
vs
Novak Djokovic
12:30am Saturday | Centre Court
Rinderknech To Win A Set – YES ($1.94)

A battle against a familiar foe was exactly what the doctor ordered for Djokovic. He improved to 13-2 lifetime against Tsitsipas and was never threatened in a 6-3 6-4 6-2 demolition. For the second consecutive year Rinderknech has made it through to the 3rd Round here but don’t expect him to go any farther as he entered the tournament with a 3-5 record. That does not mean that he cannot make things interesting and it is necessary to mention that he has 53 aces in 7 sets played. This has seen him drop serve only once through two matches. Like Rinderknech to win a set.

Best Bet: Rinderknech To Win A Set – YES ($1.94)

Jannik Sinner
vs
Jenson Brooksby
1:10am* Saturday | Court 1
Over 29.5 games ($1.75)

There was nothing straight forward about Sinner’s win over Borges. He needed tiebreakers in each of the first two sets with Borges having the chance to serve out the second set, only to be broken with the world number one winning the breaker. Three breaks of serve in three sets is a low number for Sinner and he has not looked comfortable on the grass. The dame cannot be said about Brooksby who has generated 12 breaks of serve on only 6 sets played and has looked fantastic. The American’s game is suited to this surface as shown by the multiple finals he has contested on grass including Eastbourne last year (lost to Fritz). Sinner’s troubles will continue.

Best Bet: Over 29.5 games ($1.75)

Hubert Hurkacz
vs
Tommy Paul
12:50am* Saturday | Court 2
Paul -2.5 ($1.78)

When it comes to consistency at the majors, Tommy Paul is at the top end of the list. He has made the 3rd Round or better at 11 of the last 12 majors and brings excellent form with him to SW19 having made the final in Queen’s. Hurkacz on the other hand suffered early losses to Fucsovics and Altmaier s-Hertogenbosch and Halle respectively. Paul has won the last three meetings in this series and with respect to breaking serve, he has a clear edge in this matchup. Hurkacz will be relying very heavily on his serve meaning Paul will need to build pressure in return games and take his chances. Tommy Paul is an excellent bet to cover the games handicap.

Best Bet: Paul -2.5 ($1.78)

Roman Safiullin
vs
Joao Fonseca
10:00pm Friday | Court 2
Fonseca -1.5 Sets ($1.73)

Fonseca was disappointing in a loss to Hanfmann in Halle but he has quickly returned to the form that saw him make the quarter finals at the French Open. He was dominant on serve in wins over Bautista-Agut and De Jong and will have the benefit of being well rested. Safiullin on the other hand has come through the qualifiers and played three consecutive five set matches – the final round of qualifiers and both his main draw matches. His win over Rublev and Van de Zandschulp were decided my match tiebreakers meaning his physical condition will be placed under the microscope. If Fonseca can get on top early, he will cruise into the 4th Round.

Best Bet: Fonseca -1.5 Sets ($1.73)
