Matt Markham gives his best in all races at Invercargill Harness on Sunday 5 July.
It’s all in the first few hundred metres with He Aint Fakin (6). If he can get his way around the first bend and find himself in a rhythm, then he’ll keep pressing on and destroy this field. However, there’s a fair amount of risk with that, so it’s a tread caution approach to start the day.
Selections: 6-5-2-4-3
| 6. He Aint Fakin (6) J: Brad Williamson 11p18T: Phil Williamson | |||
| Got it wrong last start after strong Addington win. Hard to beat with manners. | |||
All the form is on the board, it’s just a case of waiting for a win to unfold now for Shakedown (6). Has done everything but win in the last few starts but has run some cracking races in the process too. Brings manners which is always a big plus and should be right in the fight again.
Selections: 6-1-8-7-9
| 6. Shakedown (6) J: Oliver Kite 08222T: Nathan Williamson | |||
| Chased a race-winner in latest 2nd. Closing in on deserved victory & rates. | |||
Really encouraging debut from Heartfelt (1) when finishing fourth. Much better draw to work from here and should look to hold a pretty forward position today from the draw. A sweet trip on the markers and you’re well in play but all three of the Matty Williamson trained runners could win this.
Selections: 1-4-2-3-9
| 1. Heartfelt (1) J: Brad Williamson 4T: Matthew Williamson | |||
| Made nice ground late in her debut. Bright hopes with big draw upgrade. | |||
As far as consistency goes, not many would better Pacific Arc (12). Has been super over the past few months and while drawn on the second row here, it actually suits him better. Can sit back off the early speed and then join in late and going more than well enough to win.
Selections: 12-10-9-4-8
| 12. Pacific Arc (4) J: Mark Hurrell 23463T: Brian Norman | |||
| Fought bravely in his Winton 3rd. Consistent & has strong claims despite draw. | |||
Did it all but win down here last week with a bold run for second and Our Evie Rae (8) should have taken a bit of confidence out of that. This looks well within reach today and if the manners are there and she can get handy then she’ll run most of these down.
Selections: 8-4-6-2-1
| 8. Our Evie Rae (8) J: Blair Orange 43902T: Darryn Simpson | |||
| Very brave in her Winton 2nd. Hard to repeat with a repeat effort. | |||
Two really good efforts in two starts since arriving down in the deep south by Franco Nashville (1). The second to Razorsharpmiki really stands out given he won again. Ace draw here, right driver in the bike and a field within range. Should be winning.
Selections: 1-6-10-11-4
| 1. Franco Nashville (1) J: Blair Orange 24T: Tony Stratford | |||
| Nice work in his two southern starts & ace draw only adds appeal. Top pick. | |||
Perhaps not quite as sharp as she could be lately but a great chance for Treacherous Me (3) gets a great chance to find some winning form again here. Nice draw with main rivals off the second row and should punch out and be handy and hard to beat.
Selections: 3-11-15-9-12
| 3. Treacherous Me (3) J: Nathan Williamson 34074T: Nathan Williamson | |||
| Ran on in Gore heat 4th. Finally lands a sweet draw & looks dangerous. | |||
Desperately unlucky last time out when trekking up to Addington, Beaudiene Quick Step (11) ran into a brick wall with nowhere to go. That kind of form should really stack up here and while needing to be driven for one run at them, don’t be surprised if, with luck, they barnstorm home over the top of everything.
Selections: 11-4-12-7-13
| 11. Beaudiene Quick Step (3) J: Georgia Goodman 45150T: Nathan Williamson | |||
| Luckless last start after taking on tougher grade. Must be considered. | |||
The best of Deny Everything (9) would really relish this kind of opportunity. Has shown glimpses in the past and if the speed is on in front of him then look for him to be working home late and looking to charge over the top of them.
Selections: 9-7-6-2-4
| 9. Deny Everything (1) J: Blair Orange 55414T: Amber Hoffman | |||
| Freshened & no trials since handy overall form. Consider in suitable grade. | |||
