Warwick Farm Tips & Preview | Wednesday 1 April

Eight races make up Wednesday’s program at Warwick Farm on April 1st.

With plenty of metro talent engaged across the card, we’ll be treated to some excellent betting races, particularly with the rail left in the true position.

Check out this week’s Warwick Farm tip sheet below.

Warwick Farm Race 1
7 Seraphox

Seraphox trialled up nicely ahead of his debut before finishing down the order in the Todman Stakes Improving from that experience and dropping substantially in class under James McDonald, he get plenty of ticks this time.

Warwick Farm R1 – Hyland Race Colours Maiden Hcp
Final Race time:

9. Seraphox (7)
J: James McDonald 57.5kg

Warwick Farm Race 2
1 Above The Law

He’s a five-start maiden, but Above The Law has finished second four times, including a nice performance behind Ouragan at Hawkesbury when resuming. He strips fitter for that hit-out and looks ready to begin his journey through the grades.

Warwick Farm R2 – Drinkwise Maiden Plate
Final Race time:
3rd
1. Above The Law (9)
J: Adam Hyeronimus 57kg
224×2T: Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott

Warwick Farm Race 3
8 Oso Spirited

Oso Spirited was fair without threatening during a brief debut Australian campaign, but after trialling up well, she returned a winner over this route in early March. I like that she has been kept up to the mark with a trial since that race and something like this looks the next logical target for her.

Warwick Farm R3 – Asahi Super Dry Hcp (Bm72)
Final Race time:
2nd
8. Oso Spirited (3)
J: Rachel King 55kg

Warwick Farm Race 4
8 Mirzann

Mirzann has improved noticeably with each of three runs back this time, culminating in a near miss behind Subarctic in a competitive BM78 contest at Wyong last time out. He looks to be in peak order this week and James McDonald rides from a low draw.

Warwick Farm R4 – Ranvet Hcp (Bm78)
Final Race time:
6th
8. Mirzann (2)
J: James McDonald 56.5kg

Warwick Farm Race 5
9 Casserousse

Casserousse hasn’t been seen at the races since November, but she won each of her first two runs back last time in, including a BM68 sprint at Rosehill. She’s had the benefit of a couple of trials ahead of Wednesday’s return and gets into the race well with a light weight.

Warwick Farm R5 – Brave Smash At Yarraman Hcp (Bm78)
Final Race time:
2nd
9. Casserousse (3)
J: Zac Lloyd 54kg
x116xT: Joseph Pride

Warwick Farm Race 6
4 Metallic Cat

Metallic Cat was a dominant winner last week and backs up into another very winnable race on Wednesday. The Pierata mare couldn’t have done much more without winning on debut here in early March and took plenty of improvement into a four-length victory at Randwick-Kensington. She’s got plenty of upside still and she is my best bet on the program again.

Warwick Farm R6 – Bisley Workwear Hcp (Bm72)
Final Race time:
1st
4. Metallic Cat (8)
J: Tim Clark 58kg
21T: Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott

Warwick Farm Race 7
10 Castlejohn

He’s only made one competitive appearance so far, but Castlejohn stamped himself as one to follow by beating home the likes of Metallic Cat here on debut. The form out of that race has obviously been franked, and with natural improvement and from a perfect alley this week, I’m confident he can go on with it.

Warwick Farm R7 – Tab Hcp (Bm72)
Final Race time:
6th
10. Castlejohn (4)
J: Adam Hyeronimus 57kg
1T: Joseph Pride

Warwick Farm Race 8
1 Formal Display
Race time:

Formal Display turned in some fine performances in races not dissimilar to this one last time in, while he returned to action to score in BM78 company up at Wyong. With natural improvement, he’ll enjoy some relief in the weights under Mollie Fitzgerald, and he’s certainly up to winning something of this quality.
