2024 DP World Tour Championship | Tips & Preview

An epic DP World Tour season comes to an end at the famous Earth Course in Dubai with the staging of the DP World Tour Championship featuring some of the best players on the planet from all three major tours.

Key Stats/Skill Set Required

  • Strokes Gained: Tee To Green
  • Putting Average
  • Strokes Gained: Putting
  • Birdies
  • Par 5 Scoring
  • Driving Distance
  • Strokes Gained: Approach
  • GIR

The Earth Course is an ideal final venue for the DP World Tour season as it is a stern test from tee to hole. It is a long course so distance off the tee is important. The large undulating greens require a strong iron game and classy touch with the putter.

Key Correlation Courses/Tournaments

  • Dubai Desert Classic
  • Qatar Masters
  • Abu Dhabi Championship
Best Bet
Tyrell Hatton

Hatton is arguably the best desert player on the planet and showed that again last week when he put together a great tournament to finish 2nd with a -22 score. Won the start prior in his favourite tournament, the Alfred Dunhill Links. Ranks Top 10 on the DP World Tour in Putting Average, Birdies, Strokes Gained: Tee To Green, Strokes Gained: Approach, GIR and Par 5 Scoring. He is short as second favourite but you know he will be there when the whips are cracking.

Best Value
Billy Horschel & Thristan Lawrence

Billy Ho missed last week but this looks an amazing setup for the well-travelled veteran. Leads the DP World Tour in Putting Average while he ranks 2nd in Par 5 Scoring, 9th in Strokes Gained: Putting and 9th in Strokes Gained: Tee To Green. Won the BMW PGA Championship three starts back and played well enough here on debut last year.

South African Lawrence is one of the best putters on the DP World Tour and looks a huge runner again this week after competing in the Abu Dhabi where he finished sixth. He has been in great form, finishing 4th in the Open Championship, 2nd in the British Masters and 2nd in the BMW PGA Championship. Ranks 1st in Strokes Gained: Putting, 5th in Birdies, 9th in Putting Average and 9th in Par 5 Scoring. Nice price this week.

Best Roughies
Adrian Meronk & Sebastian Soderberg

After a very good 2023, Pole Adrian Meronk has struggled throughout much of 2024 after moving to LIV. He has just one Top 20 since his 2nd at Huston in June while his major record this year reads MC-MC-MC-T50. He does enjoy desert golf though and has a T-7 here two seasons back. Ranks 6th in Strokes Gained: Tee To Green and 12th in GIR while he was runner-up at the Dubai Desert Classic earlier this year.

Swede who does not win out of turn but has been playing good golf and looks well suited. Ranks 2nd in Birdies, 3rd in Strokes Gained: Approach, 11th in Putting Average and 15th in Strokes Gained: Tee To Green. Finished 2nd at Abu Dhabi 12 months back and was in the mix last week.

Top Australian
Min Woo Lee

This is a head-to-head with Adam Scott. Lee’s putter gives him a huge edge here – he ranks 4th in Putting Average and 15th in Strokes Gained: Putting. Super bet at north of $1.50.

Top Dane
Thorbjorn Olesen

Three Danes tee it up this week and all are in great form but it is Olesen with the most upside here. He is in hot form after contending in Abu Dhabi. Finished Top 7 in his last three starts.
