Kickoff for Jaguars vs Eagles is 2:30am NZDT on Monday 12 October at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. Read on for our Week 5 prediction and the TAB tips we like.
Jacksonville starts back-to-back London games against a 2-2 Philadelphia side that has not covered a single game this season. This is a great spot for the Eagles. When a bad offence plays a good defence, the bad offence is 75-56 against the spread. The Eagles rank 26th for points scored and the Jags have conceded the second-fewest. The Jags are in a number of play-against spots too. Teams that won after being outgained by 100-plus yards, like Jacksonville at Cincinnati last week, are 3-12 against the spread, while non-conference favourites in that spot are 0-11-1. The referee matters here too. Ron Torbert has this game, and the Eagles are 4-0 against the spread under him while the Jags are 1-9-1. Darius Cooper has three touchdowns this season with two coming last week, including the first. He should feature heavily again if DeVonta Smith (hamstring, no practice Wednesday or Thursday) misses another game. On the Jaguars side, Chris Rodriguez plays only about 27% of snaps but gets nearly half the running back touches in the red zone, so he is excellent value.
