We’ll be racing on a rain-affected track when the action returns to Randwick-Kensington this Wednesday, July 1st.
All seven races have drawn quality fields, and it shapes as a great betting program in Sydney once again.

Consulate finished midfield on debut at Ballarat in February and was immediately put away, and after a couple of decent trial performances here in Sydney, she was only denied by an impressive Demerzel at Canterbury when resuming. With natural improvement this week, this looks a perfect opportunity for her to go one better.

Having shown improvement through a handful of trials prior to her debut, Claudel mustered a fine performance behind Beneath The Rock at Warwick Farm in early June before producing a similar effort to finish second again at Canterbury. Fitter third-up, she just requires appropriate luck in the run to figure in the finish again.

His first two runs back this time perhaps left a little to the imagination, but Ballpark returned to form with a dominant performance to get up over this trip at Canterbury last time out. Tim Clark rides from a perfect barrier this week and I can’t find a reason why he won’t be in the finish again.

Emballee needed her first run back this time when comfortably accounted for in BM72 company at Warwick Farm, but she took plenty of improvement into a fine performance behind the likes of Mo Chroi a fortnight ago. With further improvement this week and a light weight in tow, she looms as a genuine each way contender.

Conchiero has been a good horse for the Waterhouse & Bott yard since debuting, and he returned to action with a decent effort to place in BM72 company at Canterbury, beaten just over half a length. This is one of, if not the best race on the program, but Conchiero strips fitter and does look perfectly placed this week.

First emergency Pazyryk has gained a start and rates as a key winning chance again. The Lonhro filly was fair without threatening during her first couple of preps, but returned to action a clearly improved horse this time when hitting the line to break her maiden over 1100m at Gosford. This is harder, but she’s open to plenty of improvement for that hit-out and she has options in the run this week from the rails draw.

Dear Jewel has been up and racing for some time, but she has continued to turn in strong performances in recent months, winning in BM72 company at Warwick Farm most notably. This is probably the weakest task she’s been set for a short while and in peak order, it’s a great opportunity for her to win.
