Matt Markham gives his best in all races at Alexandra Park Harness on Friday 22 May.
Never going to be much of a chance off the big handicap last time out when they ran such even sectionals, so put a line through that one from Magic Dash (4). Falls in here nicely, despite the 30m handicap which is negated by the small field. Less question marks than other key rivals and should thrive on the opportunity.
Selections: 4-6-5-3-2
4. Magic Dash (4) J: Crystal Hackett 14150T: Michelle Wallis & Bernie Hackett
Chased hard in behind Secret Wish here last time out but all the prior form from Fly High (4) would indicate that an assignment like tonight’s should be well within the wheelhouse. Small field, good draw and the right man in the bike. Ticks all the boxes.
Selections: 4-2-6-7-1
4. Fly High (4) J: Zachary Butcher x0429T: Barry Purdon & Scott Phelan
So much of what unfolds here in the first few hundred metres is going to dictate the terms of this race. If Petite Amour (6) strolls across and gets an uncontested lead then it’s likely she’ll be able to rack them up and then break away when she needs. That looks the most likely scenario too, so she gets the nod ahead of Our Col. Just.
Selections: 6-7-5-4-3
6. Petite Amour (6) J: Jacob Dunn 1×232T: Robert & Jenna Dunn
Classy customer Lincoln Wave (4) should really relish a drop away from the elite level of racing in his age group tonight. Has been super all campaign and gets a chance here to roll forward and not look back if in the right mood. Some hardened customers to go to war with, but none with the brilliance of him.
Selections: 4-1-5-3-8
4. Lincoln Wave (4) J: Maurice McKendry 81128T: Ray Green & Nathan Delany
The hot-stepping stand starts manners of Walkinonsunshine (8) should play right into the hands here. Super run in the Rowe Cup and will enjoy being back against her own sex. Very quick early and could actually land on the speed which will become very dangerous for her rivals.
Selections: 8-9-2-7-1
8. Walkinonsunshine (8) J: Josh Dickie 35165T: Tom Bagrie
Held up at a crucial time here two weeks ago, Princess Gracy (4) had no chance by the time the gap finally came. Found the line well and tonight she’s due a bit of luck to go her way. Racing super and with the rub of the green can get the right trip here and be too good.
Selections: 4-5-7-6-3
4. Princess Gracy (4) J: Zachary Butcher 11335T: Zachary Butcher
Got the start wrong in the Derby here two weeks ago did Who’s Ya Daddy (6) but the two runs prior to that had been fantastic and anything close to a repeat of those from the good draw and in this field should be enough to see him grab another victory tonight.
Selections: 6-7-5-14-2
6. Who’s Ya Daddy (6) J: Josh Dickie 3×127T: Trent Yesberg
Galloped in the score up last week and took no part but don’t drop Incentivise (11) on that one mistake. In the right mood, he’s a very good horse and should be able to find a nice trip through here to bring him right into play. Just needs to be close enough turning for home.
Selections: 11-2-3-9-10
11. Incentivise (3) J: Mark Purdon 506xpT: Nathan Purdon
