Matt Markham gives his best in all races at Palmerston North Harness on Thursday 9 April.
Missed Tuesday’s meeting after stepping out at Cambridge late last week and the effort of Kink (5) there was excellent in a very strong field. 40m handicap to contend with here but will overcome that without any issues and looks a strong chance to start the night.
Selections: 5-6-1-2-3
5. Kink (5) J: Michael Hay 23613T: Rodney Dickson
Put in some really strong work late in the piece on Tuesday night after getting back in the field but I Can Too (5) should look to take bad luck out of the equation tonight. Might not get all the way to the front but parked and serving it up looks ideal.
Selections: 5-7-2-3-4
5. I Can Too (5) J: Emily Johnson 13213T: Stephen Doody
A big red flashing light on the head of Manavue (1) on Day 1. Went back from a wide draw and got no luck. Lands the ace here and now third up from a spell should be ready to make a serious crack at success here. Doesn’t need to lead but even harder to beat from the front.
Selections: 1-2-10-4-3
1. Manavue (1) J: Andre Poutama 7×45T: Stephen Doody
Really stylish work late in the piece to get the win on Tuesday from Mr Miki (8) in his first look here at Manawatu. Can go on with it too. This isn’t a huge step up and should enjoy less traffic problems as well so looks really hard to beat.
Selections: 9-10-1-2-7
9. Mr Miki (2) J: Kate Coppins 39581T: Brendon Laidlaw
More bad than good in the recent runs from Jahi (5) and he’s going near enough to be a major player in a race like this. Just needs to find the right spot and with the right kind of trip can then look to unleash on this field late and win at a nice price.
Selections: 5-9-1-3-6
5. Jahi (5) J: Kate Coppins 21457T: Stephen Doody
