Trentham Race 4: Tricky day at Trentham and there’s a few chances in this race but I’m going with Tiny Diamond based on its recent form. Good 3rd at Ellerslie on NYD, just going down to King of the North and Monday Melody who had easier trips. Form around Utopian Wine, Scotch Bonnet, and others who have gone on to win. Chris Dell told us this would win on NYD, but I’m hoping he got his dates mixed up and he can ride him home for the win on Saturday!
Trentham Race 1: I’m hoping this 5yo Mare has clicked after its last star win. Here last four runs have all been good, stepping up to the 1400 now third up, and Sam Weatherly sticks. A Bonus Back race on what looks like a tricky day of punting $6 & $2.1 looks like a good bet.
Wingatui Race 9: Heading down country to Wingatui where we should get a good track. I hope so. This horse isn’t paying too much but should be Tumuch for the rest of these to handle. Beaten by Ears Back last start but at the mile and it got out late. Back to 1400 which it goes very well. Has won and run second from two starts. Ulrika on board. $6 the odds surge. Yes please.
Gold Coast Race 1: Half Brother to G2 winner Frolic. He has won his last two over 2000m and 2100m respectively and has now won 6 of his 13 starts. Step up to 2200m no concern and handles all types of track conditions, so rain is no concern. Can make it a hattrick Friday night.
Trentham Race 10: A solid tempo should provide the opportunity for the flashy grey to get over the top of them late. Eye catching run in harder grade last time. $12 FF looks value to my eye.
