Trentham Race 9: Got well back at Ellerslie over 1400m on Boxing Day and charged home to miss Smokeshow by one length. Before that, fresh up, finished nicely not far off Risque Ruler and Yaldi. Good form around some good horses. Another run like the last should be good enough to beat this field, which looks easier on paper. We’re getting $4.80 and money back for the place, which seems generous to me.
Trentham Race 6: Had two good wins and steps up in class this week, has performed at Trentham two starts back, in form trainer, and we get Lisa Allpress on top. $9 & $2.5
Kumara Race 9: Pretty tidy run first up which isn’t usually her go. Goes better second up. Up to 1800m. Has run 3rd to Bella Waters who is handy. We get barrier 7 and need to be handy at the turn and we could be striking gold! $8 on the surge.
Tauranga Race 1: Finished third on debut at Matamata last month after drawing out and having to work to get to the front. Only run down the last 20 metres. Has the ace draw this time, and if he backs up at start two, he should be hard to beat.
Trentham Race 3: Quality mare resuming. Has won fresh up before and likes the Trentham chute. Has a class edge on the opposition. $5 FF.
