TAB has Quezette Stakes tips and predictions for the Group 3 race at Caulfield on Saturday, where some of the most exciting young thoroughbreds are in action.
Natural Fling is the current $3.00 favourite with Quezette Stakes odds, but Kiwi raider Lara Antipova makes her Australian debut, and Kiwis know how good she is.
The 3YO Te Akau filly has been on the drift in Quezette Stakes odds, but we’re putting her on top. She’s an unbeaten superstar in New Zealand, and she is good enough to handle the rise in class in Australia.
Having Group 1-winning form in New Zealand is a good form guide, and although our sprinters have struggled at times across the Tasman, she’s a professional filly who demands respect in the Quezette Stakes.
We’re not worried by the betting drift, which was always going to come. Australian punters haven’t seen her in the flesh, but she’s good enough to win at the top level, so include her in Quezette Stakes picks at the value odds.
| 1. Lara Antipova (8) J: Michael Dee 59kg 1111xT: Mark Walker | |||
| Puts an unbeaten record on the line. Closed last prep favourite; won by 1.75 len in the G1 Sistema Stakes at Ellerslie on March 7 over 1200m defeating Liguria carrying 55kg at $1.10. Unbeaten, G1 winning NZ filly who warrants utmost respect. | |||
We’re not prepared to leave Natural Fling out of our Quezette Stakes predictions. She has been good in two career starts, including a win on debut at Caulfield, followed by a second placing behind a very smart type.
The 3YO filly by Home Affairs scored by three lengths on debut at Caulfield, and she lost no admirers when placing behind The Next Episode, who looks to have a bright future at the top level.
Barrier 5 is ideal, and drawing inside Lara Antipova could be crucial to her chances. She is a nice type on the rise, and we’re not surprised by her shortening Quezette Stakes odds.

| Resuming. Finished off last preparation second of 12 at Gold Coast Mm Nat 2yo SW May 22 over 1000m, soft track; 1.5 len behind The Next Episode with 55kg at $3.10. At her first start won by 3 len this track 2yo Hcp May 9 over 1100m slow track defeating Jarbardar carrying 56kg at $2.10. Looks forward enough after a recent trial win. Very speedy filly who looks ideally suited. | |||
Seeking back-to-back wins is Stars of Dom, who scored by just under a length at Flemington last time out.
The 3YO filly by Exceedance has fitness on her side after three runs this campaign, and that could be enough to see her run better than most in this race. Many runners are fresh-up, but fitness could be telling late in the run.
Craig Williams takes the ride, which adds to our confidence, and the odds are worth including in Quezette Stakes tips. She could sneak under the radar, but she’s maturing into a top-class filly.
| 7. Stars Of Dom (9) J: Craig Williams 56kg 221T: Ben, Will & Jd Hayes | |||
| Racing well recently. Returns from a 42-day let-up. Most recently favourite; came from midfield and won by 0.8 len at Flemington on July 4 over 1200m on a soft track defeating Resolutely with 55kg at $2. The race before that sat on the pace when 2nd of 7 at Sandown-Hillside on June 13 over 1000m, slow going 1.5 len behind Mbube carrying 55.5kg at $2.90. Good filly, this is tougher again however. | |||
Punters get big odds with our Quezette Stakes SRM, which includes all three of our selected runners.
We have Lara Antipova Top 3, Natural Fling Top 3, and Stars of Dom Top 5, which pays $13.00 at the TAB. We’re loving the odds for Lara Antipova Top 3, which pays $2.45, and she is going under the radar with betting markets.
The same-race multi odds are also boosted by the $2.30 for Stars of Dom Top 5, and we have her running better than market expectations, so include our SRM in your Quezette Stakes tip this week.
