Doomben Tips & Preview | Saturday 1 August

We’re back to Doomben this weekend for another quality nine-race metropolitan program.

The track is rated in the Soft (5) range at publish, while the rail will be set out 4.5 metres around the entire course.

Check out our complete Doomben tip sheet below.

Race 1
2 Bluepinot

Bluepinot has mixed his form a little this time in, but he did manage to strike in BM70 company here most notably, and he’s raced well around some credible opposition. In peak order this week and out to the mile, and with some relief in the weights under Jace McMurray, he has claims.

Race 2
2 Cormac T

He’s another one that has mixed his form a little of late, but we know how good Cormac T can be at his best, and he’s a multiple winner in strong Saturday metro company. There’s no doubting his fitness this week, 2200m is ideal and with McMurray’s claim, he gets into the race well under the conditions.

Race 3
1 Yet He Moves

Yet He Moves has been a good performer for the Waller yard for several seasons now, and while he is yet to record a win this time in, several of his recent performances have suggested another victory isn’t far away. He gets out to a suitable trip this week and is drawn to effect.

Race 4
4 Boonie Boom

While she has only made one appearance at the races so far, Boonie Boom trialled up extremely well and put the writing on the wall with an easy win in maiden company a couple of weeks ago. With natural improvement, something like this is the next logical step for her.

Race 5
4 Formal
Each Way

Formal doesn’t win out of turn, but he’s returned to action in typically competitive form this time and hasn’t been far away at any of his four runs back, all in stronger Sydney company. He’ll likely go back from barrier 9 and with clear air in the straight, he’s certainly one that can be fighting out the finish of something like this.

Race 6
1 Grinzinger Champ
Tip of The Day

Grinzinger Champ picked off some nice races for Danny O’Brien last time in, while the decision to move her north has already paid dividends. She worked home well behind a good one in Sword Of Legacy at Eagle Farm in June, while she was an easy winner over this route at her second appearance for Jack Bruce. Fitter third-up this week, she’s my best bet on the program.

Race 7
1 Daggers

Daggers has been a consistent performer since arriving in Queensland and is yet to miss the placings in six starts for the Tony Gollan yard, winning twice, including what was an easy watch for favourite backers in the last here at Doomben a fortnight ago. In peak order, he need only hold his form to be in the finish again.

Race 8
13 Zoubaby

She stripped fitter with a fair performance without threatening first up on Ipswich Cup Day, and Zoubaby was far stronger when hitting the line to win over this route at her only other start this time. She’s treated well under handicap conditions this week, while she’s a hard that tends to improve with a couple of runs under her belt.

Race 9
9 Too Many Thoughts

Too Many Thoughts has missed placing just twice in ten trips to the races sin debtuing, and he returned to action with a fine effort to finish a length behind Taltarni Fields here a fortnight ago. Stripping fitter, he’s drawn to receive every chance again this week under Taylor Marshall.
