Matt Markham gives his best in all races at Rangiora on Sunday 17 May.
A nice each way play to start the day here in Bronski (2). Has been really good in three runs back from a spell in this grade and from the good draw today should be on the speed throughout and with fitness peaking looks a strong chance of saluting.
Selections: 2-6-8-7-3
2. Bronski (2) J: Craig Thornley 0x843T: Donna Williamson
Huge money on offer here for the very capable Seasidemagic (16). The Ashburton trial win prior to resuming still burns in the memory and not a lot has gone right in the two runs since then but there’s been some merit in the efforts. Can stay out of it all early here and get home over the top of them.
Selections: 16-14-3-4-5
16. Seasidemagic (7) J: Jim Curtin 7×69T: Colin & Julie DeFilippi
Got it wrong early at Addington on Wednesday, but on the quick back up don’t be surprised to see What The Bell get handy here and be a major player. Getting back to the stand will help and is going near enough given this is a wide open field.
Selections: 8-7-10-13-14
| 8. What The Bell (8) Scratched: | |||
Few wee issues around the last bend two weeks ago for Shards Lyric (5) but still found the line well. Is going to pick up another one quickly and should ping out and land on the speed here. With own terms in front will be right in the fight here.
Selections: 5-3-1-4-8
5. Shards Lyric (5) J: Sarah O’Reilly 91026T: Brent & Tim White
Probably the form trotter of this graduation series, Party Pack (7) has done everything right so far and looked good in both runs. Manners seem good and if able to get close enough to them early then should stalk the speed and have a big part to play.
Selections: 7-2-8-13-5
7. Party Pack (7) J: Gavin Smith 21T: Steven Reid
A super mid-week trial at Ashburton from Treasure Cove (3) held off some nice types and looked to be doing it very easily inside the final stages too. The stand start is the only concern. Needs to catch it right here with some quick beginning nearby. In the fight.
Selections: 3-10-8-4-1
3. Treasure Cove (3) J: Tim Williams 5792xT: Steve & Amanda Telfer
Fourth last week at Addington behind Prestigious, Miles Away (9) looks pretty well placed here. Copped a bit of trouble on the last bend too, but fought on well. Manners are good and can stalk here and then look to wind into it late.
Selections: 9-7-3-4-1
9. Miles Away (9) J: Samantha Ottley 14504T: Murray Tapper
A big and bold win here last time out and with the benefit of the graduation series, gets another crack in the grade too. Gets a great draw while some of the rivals land trickier paths. Should punch forward and look to control this from the top end.
Selections: 5-14-11-8-7
5. Cherish Me (5) J: Carter Dalgety 21T: Cran & Chrissie Dalgety
A really good chance to step and run here for Mystery Beach (4) and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him on the top end and proving really hard to beat here. Has run some cracking races in this grade without a whole lot of luck and if able to turn that around here, looks well in play.
Selections: 4-6-9-10-11
4. Mystery Beach (4) J: Blair Orange 36224T: Mark Jones
The really talented Major Cyclone (15) returns here after a good spell and with a couple of good trials under the belt looks ready to rock and roll. Manners are always the key, but with them would be well in play in this line up.
Selections: 15-6-2-4-8
15. Major Cyclone (15) J: Blair Orange 0x88xT: Hayden & Amanda Cullen
Patiently handled so far in the career the untapped Seaside Croft (8) resumes here with a couple of trials under the belt. Has a future ahead of him and if he looks to roll forward here and be handy throughout and is more than capable of winning.
Selections: 8-5-2-3-9
8. Seaside Croft (8) J: Samantha Ottley 5x21xT: Mark Jones
