The spotlight stays firmly on Royal Randwick this Saturday, backing up a big Boxing Day card with another ten-race feast.
We roll in off Friday’s eight-race program, and while the track is still sitting at a Soft 5, the good news is the weather looks to be playing ball.
Dive into our best bets in Sydney below as we chase a few more winners to keep the festive spirit ticking along.
OUI OUI OUI (3) looks ready for longer now in search of her hat-trick.
The daughter to Yes Yes Yes has set the bar to new heights this time in work, resuming a clear winner fresh at Newcastle last month, before finding a late gap midway down the straight here at Randwick two weeks ago to prevail by just over half a length.
She’s shown an excellent turn of foot on each occasion and draws to do absolutely no work with Tom Sherry sticking. In a race that looks to lack a bit of depth, she’s the one to beat.

SATIN STILETTO (9) has each-way claims if she gets a bit of luck from the gate early on.
Matthew Dale’s mare was unlucky not to run a place on return at Rosehill late last month, checking across heels at the 300m mark on her way to running fourth off a good break.
They probably went a little to fast for her in the early stages, so she’d benefit from more of a sit and sprint this time around. With a place to her name in a Highway here at Randwick the start prior, she’s got good scope for improvement second-up with Rachel King on board.

Keen here on MASVINGO (6) second-up for Bjorn Baker.
This filly by Zoustar tried hard fresh in the Magic Millions at Wyong a couple of weeks ago, only finding clear air approaching the final furlong where she finished off fairly for third in behind Paradoxium.
Keep in mind she was fresh off a nine-week break over 1100m, a trip that may have been a little on the sharp side. That run should do wonders for her though, and she’s drawn to get the gun run along the inside again with Rachel King taking over.

SUN GOD (5) has drawn to get the right run from a soft gate.
We last saw this Chris Waller-trained gelding over 1800m a fortnight ago, a run that never really went to plan from a wide alley when he was interfered with early on and caught three-wide the trip.
In saying that, he looked the winner for the majority before Pocketing got the better of him over the concluding stages, and there’s a bit to like about him here back to the mile in his second run back from a four-week let-up.
Jockey Zac Lloyd has a real feel for him now, and this doesn’t look much tougher.

Watch the market on SOUTHERN HEIRESS (11) at double-figure odds.
This Freedman-trained filly by Snitzel was an impressive back to back winner here in Sydney to start her career, bursting clear to win by 3.5 lengths on debut at Newcastle, before repeating the dose three weeks later on a Heavy 8 at Canterbury over further.
She wrapped up her winter prep at The Valley beaten 5.5 lengths in the Listed Atlantic Jewel, the tight turns never really suiting her racing style – not to mention racing on top of the ground.
She’d benefit from a little juice in the track on Saturday and is capable of sneaking into the finish carrying only 54kg.

Anything resembling a wet track could really bring CHARLEROI (11) into calculations here over the mile.
A lightly-raced son to Dundeel, this talented four-year-old has gone close in two recent runs, his latest seeing him finish three lengths off over 1400m after being held up on a couple of occasions down the straight.
He was up sharply in trip that day after competing over 1100m fresh at Hawkesbury, so there’s still room for improvement with Dylan Gibbons boasting a solid strike rate for the Dilmi stable.

First emergency ELLIPSIS (15) is a definite danger in this field thanks to some early scratching’s.
Bjorn Baker’s mare has been ultra consistent during her six-start career, missing the money only once alongside two wins.
By Written Tycoon, she resumed well to run second behind the airborne Caffe Florian at Canterbury a fortnight ago, hitting the front over the final 200m before her condition gave way.
She’s untested over 1200m, but fitter now and carrying only 55kg, she should be very strong in the finish if she can slot in off the speed from the wide gate.

SNACK BAR (2) is worth sticking with, even if he continues to torment.
He was a good thing beaten two weeksa go in a similar race over the track and trip, the late tactics out wide likely costing him a win when narrowly beaten by Axius right on the line.
The change in rider with Dylan Gibbons taking over is the key to his chances on Saturday, particularly with only 1kg extra in the saddle.

ROTAGILLA (14) is plenty fit and in quite nicely at thew eights carrying 56.5kg as one of the emergencies.
By All Too Hard, he went three-quarters of a length clear to win at Rosehill over shorter two runs back, following that effort up back here at Randwick on a soft track, where the three-wide sit in transit cost him over the late stages.
He placed in his lone start over 2000m back in June and would benefit from a little sting out of the track with Zac Lloyd getting his first crack in the saddle.
| 14. Rotagilla (1) J: Zac Lloyd 56.5kg 41214T: Chris Waller |
APPLAUD (6) gets the winkers on for the first time and rates one of the key chances third-up.
The Snowden-trained four-year-old by Deep Field resumed in terrific order to win at good odds fresh at Kembla Grange, backing that effort up strongly at Rosehill where he was three-wide across heels over the late stages, chasing hard to grab third.
He’s had only 13 starts, but some of his best performances have come third-up. If he gets back around midfield and can find the right lane he’ll be very tough to hold out.
