Matt Markham gives his best in all races at Winton Harness on Friday 30 October.
After a couple of runs back from a spell it’s about time we started seeing the best of 1 Here’s Johny and today provides the perfect opportunity for it. Has raced in and competed well against much better fields than this and if he can hold a forward position looks well in play here.
Selections: 1-6-2-3-4
1. Here’s Johny (1) J: Peter Hunter 99958T: Peter Hunter
Down from Canterbury and into a new barn expect a quick win from 4 Muscle Dash. Has always been there or thereabouts in good maiden fields up the island but just lacked the killer punch at the business end. Might not need it down here and with good manners looks well in play.
Selections: 4-1-9-6-5
4. Muscle Dash (4) J: Hayden Douglas 47457T: Jeremy Douglas
Unsighted since back at the start of the year when running two very good races, 11 Seaside Fantasy steps out here today fresh up for a new barn with a workout win under the belt. Meets a pretty tidy maiden field so will need to be good but has the speed.
Selections: 11-2-3-1-10
11. Seaside Fantasy (11) J: Mark Hurrell 34xT: Darren Keast
An eyecatching finishing burst from 9 Showcase on Sunday suggests that the wheel is turning and a return to winning form isn’t far off. This actually looks easier but the draw makes it harder. Needs a little bit of luck at the right time but would beat most of these for speed no worries.
Selections: 9-4-1-7-10
9. Showcase (9) J: Brent Barclay 07773T: Jamie Gameson
Very good effort on Monday at Ashburton behind Clotlide Wainwright from 2 Jordan Anne who finished fourth. Was sneaking up the markers with a bit of authority late. Wouldn’t have to go much better here and should lob a sweet trip just off the speed throughout so looks a strong hope.
Selections: 2-1-6-4-7
2. Jordan Anne (2) J: Matthew Williamson 54564T: Matthew Williamson
8 Bring On The Muscle returned to form in fine style with a big win last time out under same conditions. That bodes well here and for class should have the measure of this field. Will have to do work at some stage but can handle that no problems and looks hard to beat.
Selections: 8-7-2-5-6
8. Bring On The Muscle (8) J: Brent Barclay 12841T: Clark Barron
5 Share A Dream brings strong form forward to this after chasing hard in the Tuapeka Cup behind Dreams Are Free on Sunday. In the zone and racing well and with a nice trip just off the speed today should be able to slingshot most here and pick up a deserved win.
Selections: 5-1-2-3-4
5. Share A Dream (5) J: Mark Hurrell 56322T: Tyler Dewe
Smart trotter who is still putting it all together and learning what the racing game is all about is 9 Axel Rose. But there’s little to no doubt that with manners throughout and no bad luck a win here today could come as no surprise. Big motor to unleash if able.
Selections: 9-4-1-3-11
9. Axel Rose (9) J: Matthew Williamson 130T: Matthew Williamson
Knocking on the door of a win after a few starts back from a spell 7 Passchendaele finds the right race today to make it happen. Wide draw is the only concern but if able to work into the race at the right time should have most of the these on ability alone.
Selections: 7-3-4-1-10
7. Passchendaele (7) J: Nathan Williamson 03422T: Nathan Williamson
