Matt Markham has been through the form guide and speed maps and has provided his race analysis and betting strategy for each of the 10 races at the Oamaru Harness meeting on Sunday 13 September below:
Big and robust pacer Carrera Bandido (7) looks pretty well placed here. Has run some strong races in good fields of late and with an aggressive drive early could find himself on the speed and bowling along which will make him awfully hard to run down in this field.
Selections: 7-12-10-5-2
| 7. Carrera Bandido (7) J: Ricky May 44104 T: Warren Stapleton | |||
| Brings handy form in this grade. No draw favours but can get amongst this. | |||
A progressive start to the career for Sands Of Destiny (5) and comes out of two very strong races down in Southland. With good manners today she looks to have the class edge on her rivals and if she can get into a nice rhythm then looks set for win No.1.
Selections: 5-7-9-3-2
| 5. Sands Of Destiny (5) J: Kerryn Tomlinson 24 T: Kerryn Tomlinson | |||
| Freshened after two good efforts to start her career. Rates a big winning threat | |||
An electric trial at Rangiora last week where he ran home in better than 55 seconds has Spy Major (2) on the radar for everyone here. Backed in from a short opening price almost immediately there’s a lot of expectation of success. Good draw to use helps.
Selections: 2-7-4-1-8
| 2. Spy Major (2) J: Sam Thornley T: Daniel Reardon | |||
| Excellent in his latest trial win. Looks hard to hold out from this draw. | |||
Took a long time to break maidens, but a win has finally arrived for Regal Summit (4) and don’t be surprised if she’s one of those ones who goes out and wins herself another pretty quickly. Small field here really suits and she just needs to be right there turning in to get another chance.
Selections: 4-6-2-1-3
| 4. Regal Summit (4) J: Jacob Dunn 22381 T: Tom Bagrie | |||
| Ran to slick maiden victory. No fears in this grade & can double up. | |||
Two starts to the races for two very good efforts from Humber Hawk (5) and should be a little more comfortable on the all weather here today than perhaps he was last week at Methven. Will roll forward early and with a good run on the top end can dash his way to victory.
Selections: 5-6-1-2-3
| 5. Humber Hawk (5) J: Carter Dalgety 24 T: Cran & Chrissie Dalgety | |||
| Worked early & rounded off nicely. 2nd to a smart one prior. Must rate. | |||
She’s a tricky mare to catch but when she is in the right frame of mind Harriet’s Moment (6) can be quite devastating and it would be no surprise to see her trot to the front and dominate this race today. Home track advantage and a field that’s a little easier than some of the recent assignments adds up nicely for her.
Selections: 6-4-5-8-2
| 6. Harriet’s Moment (6) J: Ricky May 253d0 T: Phil Williamson | |||
| Battled last start after disqualified 3rd. Has the game to feature with manners. | |||
Eye-catching first up run for the new stable by Ukraine (2) at Addington. He’s a pretty serious horse and off the front tape here might look to jump and run them along. No surprise to see him taking home a major share of the spoils here at a big quote.
Selections: 2-10-6-4-9
| 2. Ukraine (2) J: Ricky May 219×3 T: Warren Stapleton | |||
| Ran on nicely first up. Steps up to tougher task here but has claims. | |||
Never a factor in a good field at Addington last week, Start Me Up (1) looks a little better placed here today. Should stay close to the speed throughout and as evidenced by her last couple of runs she’s knocking on the door of another win and can get it here.
Selections: 1-4-7-3-5
| 1. Start Me Up (1) J: John Morrison 65620 T: John Morrison | |||
| Battled last start after tidy Timaru 2nd. Took on smart types prior. Include. | |||
Two strong wins in the last two starts from the talented Way Coola (12) who is really starting to get the hang of this racing game. Bigger task here and a harder one too but can’t fault winning form and with good manners once again becomes a leading player.
Selections: 12-8-9-1-7
| 12. Way Coola (12) J: Mia Holbrough 611 T: Kerryn Tomlinson | |||
| Ran to easy Gore in similar grade. Big hopes of completing hat-trick. | |||
Good to see the big Mossdale Frank (6) back at the races after a freshen up. He created quite the impression winning a couple to open his career. Big and raw but plenty of ability and if he found his way to the front here he’d take all sorts of stopping.
Selections: 6-7-2-1-4
| 6. Mossdale Frank (6) J: Ben Hope 11x T: Greg & Ben Hope | |||
| Smart work to begin his career & nice trial to prepare. Big hopes of hat-trick. | |||
