Matt Markham gives his best in all races at Alexandra Park Harness on Friday, October 2.
Got it all wrong at the start last time out and took no part but with a clean getaway tonight then Muscle Memory (3) can get the form back on the right path. Looks like a trotter who can quickly work through the grades and has by far the biggest ceiling of anything in the race.
Selections: 3-7-1-4-9
3. Muscle Memory (3) J: Tony Herlihy x3210 T: Tony Herlihy
With a couple of runs under the belt now, would expect Time For Change (1) to be getting pretty close to peak levels. Finds the right race tonight with the right draw to make something happen and anything close to her best would have her right in the hunt.
Selections: 1-5-7-6-9
1. Time For Change (1) J: Zachary Butcher 68×45 T: Zachary Butcher
A lot like the stablemate in the first race, Franco Ronaldo (2) made it a hard watch for punters when missing away from the stand last week. Had shown plenty of promise winning them in a row prior and if able to get the feet moving right again tonight then should resume the winning ways.
Selections: 2-9-8-4-7
2. Franco Ronaldo (2) J: Tony Herlihy 3110 T: Tony Herlihy
A very nice opening price put up for Jessie Lincoln (10) earlier in the week and some astute players were straight into get her moving downward in price. Has been decent in some strong races lately and should really appreciate the step back in grade. Can play a big role.
Selections: 10-11-2-6-1
10. Jessie Lincoln (2) J: Andre Poutama 26547 T: Ray Green & Nathan Delany
Stonewall Stud debutant Rolling In It (2) steps out tonight with some good trial work under the belt including and impressive victory last time out. Looks primed and ready to run a big race on debut and with the aid of the good draw tonight should be right in the fight.
Selections: 2-3-8-7-1
2. Rolling In It (2) J: Maurice McKendry T: Steve & Amanda Telfer
He jumped, ran and left them too it a couple of weeks ago in a fresh state and it would be no surprise to see Higher Power (5) step out tonight and do more of the same. So quick away from the tape when he catches it that he’s likely to get in front again and control things. Dangerous if left to it.
Selections: 5-9-4-8-1
5. Higher Power (5) J: Harrison Orange 319×1 T: Barry Purdon & Scott Phelan
A run under the belt and a little extra distance should play into the hands of Merlin (7) tonight. He was good first up behind American Me but will undoubtedly take improvement from the run. More of a staying contest is his kind of go now and expect him to be right there and hard to beat.
Selections: 7-5-6-4-3
7. Merlin (7) J: Zachary Butcher 230×4 T: Barry Purdon & Scott Phelan
One of the finds of the last few months up in the north, War Chief (10) steps out again and faces what could be seen as his toughest test to date. He’s a horse with the confidence levels sky high and the fitness right where it needs to be and if he gets a sniff this week, he’ll take it.
Selections: 10-9-4-8-3
10. War Chief (2) J: Zachary Butcher 21211 T: Barry Purdon & Scott Phelan
