Flemington Tips & Preview | Saturday 6 June

We’re back to Melbourne HQ on Saturday, June 6th for another strong nine-race metropolitan program.

The rail will be set out 8 metres around the entire Flemington course this week, and while the weather looks like being generally fine leading up to the weekend, the track is rated in the Soft (7) range at publish.

You can find our Flemington tip sheet below.

Flemington Race 1
3 Vega Vixen

Vega Vixen indicated ability at the trials prior to debuting and put the writing on the wall with an easy win on the Caulfield Heath last month. This is harder, but she’s got plenty of upside and can go on with it.

Flemington Race 2
13 Madiyya

Madiyya kept her best work for late behind Capper Thirtynine here when resuming in April, while she was improved when only just denied over 1400m last time out. Fitter third-up and out to the mile, she’s drawn to effect and should get her chance on the big HQ track again.

Flemington Race 3
3 Bel Mezyaan
Each Way

Bel Mezyaan hasn’t missed placing in six appearances since debuting, winning twice and turning in some fine performances around some good horses in recent weeks, including a near miss at Caulfield last week. In peak order and on the quick back-up, she looks suited to the mile and at around the $7 mark, we can have something on each way.

Flemington Race 4
8 Biologics

Biologics was a scratched favourite from Sandown’s midweek program to run here, and I am confident she can justify that decision. Her last campaign was abandoned after finishing down the order in a couple of strong black type races, but she returned to action in the best way possible at Werribee, giving them windburn in BM62 company. While facing a decent rise in class, she’s clearly got plenty of ability and I am keen to be with her.

Flemington Race 5
2 Duchess Zou

Duchess Zou stripped fitter with some competitive performances in BM78 races at Caulfield and Mornington back in April, and while she was disappointing behind Quiseen at Bendigo on Ladbrokes Golden Mile Day, she responded in dominant fashion at Sandown last time out. In peak order and sticking to the 1400m, this looks a great opportunity for to her to continue winning in Saturday metro company.

Flemington Race 6
12 He’ll Rip
Each Way

He’ll Rip clearly needed his first run back this time when beaten just under four lengths by King Tut at Caulfield, but he was improved into the Quiseen race at Bendigo most recently. He’s a month between runs but has been kept up to the mark with a trial and takes weight from several key rivals this week.

Flemington Race 7
15 Starzintheireyes
Tip of The Day

Starzintheireyes caught the eye when second, beaten healf a length over 1800m at Hawkesbury at his Australian debut last month, while he was only denied a head in a busy finish at Randwick last time out. Sticking to the 2000m this week looks beneficial, he strips fitter and drops substantially in the weights, while he’s also drawn a peach in barrier 6.

Flemington Race 8
1 Azazel
Each Way

Azazel is one that I thought would improve second up from a spell and he’s going around at huge odds ($31 at publish). Having won the Listed Geelong Classic during his spring preparation most notably, the Shocking gelding finished at the tail of the field in the Victoria Derby, and he was far from disgraced when four lengths behind the winner over a mile when resuming. He’s another one that has had the benefit of another trial since his last race, and any rise in trip is going to be suitable. At the big quote, we can have something small on each way.

Flemington Race 9
9 Zouper Fund
Each Way

Zouper Fund hasn’t been seen at the races since January, but he absolutely flies fresh and has won two of three at this point of his preparation. Having trialled up well, he’s certainly not out of his depth in races like this one and if he handles the straight track, he can fight out the finish.
