Matt Markham gives his best in all races at Invercargill Harness on Sunday 17 May.
The talented Rangitata (7) kicks off a new campaign here off the back of some solid work over the past 12 months. Will appreciate getting into this kind of grade and has more than enough ability to win this even despite the likely need for a run under the belt.
Selections: 7-9-10-8-2

Really strong win from Rakamick (10) last time out and it was well deserved too. Finds a pretty similar race here, albeit from a different kind of draw. Should punch through from the second line and get into a handy position and can out-tough them over the final stages.
Selections: 10-1-11-12-13
| 10. Rakamick (2) J: Brent Barclay 26981T: Clark Barron |
Matty Williamson brings debutant pacer Heartfelt (3) here today off the back of some really tidy trial performances. Looks a quick winner in the maiden grade and finds a great race to begin the career in. Should be hard to beat from the good draw.
Selections: 3-1-4-9-8
| 3. Heartfelt (3) Scratched: | |||
Everything hinges on the first few hundred metres here for Blarney Stone (8). Get that part right and the rest should come pretty easy for the talented trotter. The unruly draw should help as a bit more room to move early. Cross the fingers.
Selections: 8-3-1-2-7
| 8. Blarney Stone (8) J: Hayden Douglas 729T: Matthew Williamson |
A welcome return to the winners’ circle last time out from Deny Everything (3) and there’s no reason why it can’t happen again either in a similar looking line up. Stand start is perhaps the only concern but a small field should help the cause and looks well in play here.
Selections: 3-5-4-2-6
| 3. Deny Everything (3) J: Craig Ferguson 55541T: Amber Hoffman |
Well backed here on debut, Porcupine Creek (5) did everything but win but will have taken plenty of benefit out of the performances. Into a decent race today with some handy rivals, but should get handy and be right there inside the final stages.
Selections: 5-1-4-9-7
| 5. Porcupine Creek (5) J: Matthew Williamson 2T: Matthew Williamson |
With experience and more racing under the belt Jaccka Ace (8) is beginning to furnish into a really capable trotter. This is the easiest assignment faced for a while and wouldn’t need to go any better than some of the recent runs to be very hard to beat here.
Selections: 8-4-6-5-1
| 8. Jaccka Ace (8) J: Nathan Williamson 41721T: Brett Gray |
Good horse, horrible draw for Utah Jazz (15) today. Has done a super job in the short career to date and it’ll be interesting to see how far things get taken this campaign. Will need to be good first up, but is capable of it. Dangerous prospect.
Selections: 15-12-7-10-14
| 15. Utah Jazz (7) Scratched: | |||
Really nice each way price on offer for Nutcracker (11) today after some strong recent efforts. A lot of them have come in a higher grade than this one too and with the right kind of run can really unleash over the top of them late and get a slice of this.
Selections: 11-8-5-7-10
| 11. Nutcracker (3) J: Craig Ferguson 73433T: Amber Hoffman |
Too bad to be true last time out, Simply Amazing (6) gets a shot at redemption here. Will likely look to roll forward from the handy draw. Best version would be good enough to win, but just a few hesitations after that last start performance.
Selections: 6-14-4-5-7
| 6. Simply Amazing (6) J: Nathan Williamson 14460T: Nathan Williamson |
