Matt Markham gives his best in all races at Ashburton Harness on Sunday 10 May.
Sliding out of the Southern Supremacy at his last start and back to the home track where he won on debut Giorgio Denario (1) looks a great bet to start the night. Ace draw is a plus and if he can light up early and hold the front then they’ll need to be very good trying to run him down.
Selections: 1-8-7-6-5

Tried to make a long sustained run at Rangiora last week but the task was a little too big for Time For Victory (10) in a much stronger field than this. Can sit off the speed today and use the wide open spaces of Ashburton to have plenty of time to wind up and should run past this field.
Selections: 10-4-7-2-3
10. Time For Victory (10) J: Olivia Thornley 6×336T: Michael Ward
Really nice effort first up last week at Rangiora from Poseidon (2) and grabs a massive upswing in draws for this. Talented horse who based off his trials and that first up run will win a couple of races this time in without too much fuss. Can grab the first of those here.
Selections: 2-10-7-1-6
2. Poseidon (2) J: Gavin Smith 264×5T: Gavin Smith
Nice trotting mare Amistozo (3) returns to the track here after a good spell and the one public trial on this course was excellent. Astute stable will have all the boxes ticked for a strong resumption and it’s a very winnable race first up for her as well. A nice bet.
Selections: 3-7-8-2-6
| 3. Amistozo (3) Scratched: | |||
Best of the rest behind a rampant Foliejon Star last week at Rangiora and My Skatjie (4) looks to be closing in on another victory. Racing in fine fettle and drops down a grade here today too so with something similar to what we’ve seen in recent times, he should be a major player.
Selections: 4-7-6-2-3
4. My Skatjie (4) J: Sarah O’Reilly 20872T: Carl & Jeremy Markham
Probably the best placed horse here all day is He’s My Creation (7). Has been in some strong Addington fields of late and doing good things and even from the wide draw here, looks capable of blasting across them and controlling this from the outset. Great bet.
Selections: 7-3-2-5-4
7. He’s My Creation (7) J: Blair Orange 02831T: Steve Dolan
Not a lot of room late last week for Bettor Than Lizzy (7) after she was trapped away on the markers. Heading in the right direction and this is a wide open field so she gets her chance to grab a victory. Confident drive early should have her close to the speed and no bad luck means she can win.
Selections: 7-2-11-5-4
7. Bettor Than Lizzy (7) J: Carter Dalgety 0x865T: Cran & Chrissie Dalgety
Bringing some strong Southland form up the road, Princess Lisa (5) is in well here. Confidence levels are sky high and in a small field she gets a few options to work with. Best probably when coming from off the speed and with the right run should be unleashing on them late.
Selections: 5-2-3-7-8
5. Princess Lisa (5) J: Nikita Burton 16721T: Steve & Amanda Telfer
Massive recovery last week after an early gallop from Four Wise Women (9) didn’t have any right to finish as close as she did. Manners will be key here but with them she has to be the horse to beat in what’s a pretty even line up of trotters.
Selections: 9-2-6-8-7
9. Four Wise Women (9) J: Tim Williams x9024T: Craig & Aimee Edmonds
Some really nice work of late from Interrogator (11) and another victory looks close at hand. Ashburton should really suit and if able to sit off the speed and then get into it over the last 800m, will out-tough most here in what is a very tricky way to end the night.
Selections: 11-15-4-14-9
11. Interrorgator (2) J: Tim Williams 30364T: Peter & Mitchell Robertson
