Matt Markham gives his best in all races at Alexandra Park Harness on Friday 15 May.
Being tucked away on the markers might not have been the best place for Muchacho (10) last week and things got a little tight around the bend and it was enough to throw him off stride. Should be able to find clear air a little easier tonight and going good enough to win this.
Selections: 10-9-5-6-8
10. Muchacho (2) J: Harrison Orange 61819T: Zev Meredith
The reliability factor around South Sydney (1) appeals here. Has been faultless in both runs since arriving in the north and as long as the one draw doesn’t prove a problem, should trot onto the speed early and be handy throughout. Good enough to win too.
Selections: 1-6-7-3-2
1. South Sydney (1) J: Logan Hollis 85×33T: Logan Hollis & Shane Robertson
Back to the mobile tonight and that’s always enough to bring Crazy (7) right into contention. Thrives on the short course mobiles and can sit off the speed here and then look to get home over the top of them. Small field really helps the cause too.
Selections: 7-3-6-2-4
7. Crazy (7) J: Zachary Butcher 13429T: Tim Hall
Good enough to run fourth to Jumal in the Northern Derby at his last start, Sammy Lincoln (9) looks thrown in here. That said, has found himself in these kinds of races before and let the side down. Experience is building and if he can fend off his own worst enemy, himself, he’ll win here.
Selections: 9-6-7-2-4
9. Sammy Lincoln (1) J: Harrison Orange 23424T: Ray Green & Nathan Delany
The form might not look like it but here’s been so much to like about LIttle Spike (6) over the past few months. Has knocked around in some very good fields and also had to start off massive handicaps too. Not so badly served here and class should prevail.
Selections: 6-5-3-4-1
6. Little Spike (6) J: David Butcher 54656T: Arna Donnelly
After mistakes when taking on the best of the best in the age group, Tattica (9) really turned it on last time out and won very impressively. There’s a serious motor there and if the manners come along with it tonight back-to-back victories look likely.
Selections: 9-5-8-10-2
9. Tattica (1) J: Maurice McKendry 2651T: Steve & Amanda Telfer
First up run from Utah Blaze (5) was full of merit and the form has stacked up from it since with both the winner and second horse winning since. Good enough to take on the really good young pacers last campaign and should be much improved tonight and really hard to beat.
Selections: 5-2-9-11-14
5. Utah Blaze (5) J: Maurice McKendry 710×4T: Steve & Amanda Telfer
