Matt Markham gives his best in all races at Addington Harness on Friday 8 May.
Was probably never going to be able to match Radha for high speed last week but Take The Miki (5) was still really strong in second. Likely to be driven a little more aggressively tonight and if he’s up on the speed turning for home, the hot favourite Sacetas is going to know he’s right there.
Selections: 5-3-7-1-4
5. Take The Miki (5) J: Ricky May 30112T: Warren Stapleton
A little below par last time out at Invercargill but Almighty (5) returns to one of her happy hunting grounds in Addington tonight and can turn things right around. Won’t turn up and win for fun, but with the right kind of trip and some clear air at the top of the straight she’s capable of running up to and past anything here.
Selections: 5-11-7-8-12
5. Almighty (5) J: Jonny Cox 23556T: Jonny Cox
Nice value on offer for a very fast filly in Maddisons Speedy (1). She’s showed really sharp speed in her trials and with only two rivals here tonight won’t be too far off them turning for home. If she’s in the right spot and can unleash they might not be able to hold her out.
Selections: 1-3-2
1. Maddisons Speedy (1) J: Sam Thornley T: Sam Thornley
A very sharp Ashburton trial from Irish Dream (7) hinted that we might be in for a good campaign from Irish Dream (7) this time around. Has always been talented and possesses a very sharp turn of foot. But he’s been a work in progress in the head department. Seems settled, so can go on with it.
Selections: 7-8-5-4-1
7. Irish Dream (7) J: Colin DeFilippi 6785xT: Colin & Julie DeFilippi
After a big first up run, Tee Ball (7) got it all wrong next time out at Rangiora and took no part. Looking for a sharp turnaround here though because the best version is pretty smart and if he runs up to that tonight then he should be going close in what is a really strong maiden field.
Selections: 7-5-3-4-1
7. Tee Ball (7) J: Robbie Close 4×20T: Anne-Marie & Jack Best
After a couple of frustrating runs, Moonlite Blood (12) bounced right back to form last time out with an impressive victory. Can go on with it too. This is a step up, no doubt but if able to get into a nice spot early then can join in late and have the final say at a nice each way price.
Selections: 12-6-10-13-15
12. Moonlite Blood (12) J: Robbie Close 50841T: Andrew Stuart
A stunning resumption by Donna’s Boy (6) last time out and the scary thing is there should be improvement off it too. This race is probably not quite as strong as the last one either so without any bad luck should be on the speed and hard to beat here.
Selections: 6-7-9-10-3
5. Styrax (5) J: Jonny Cox 46599T: Jonny Cox
A lovely resumption from Marketplace (1) a fortnight ago and a real indication that he’s come back as 4YO meaning business. Lobs the ace draw here tonight and from there should be rolling forward and not looking back. Some hardened types in here, but he’ll have them all for speed and stamina.
Selections: 1-6-5-8-3
1. Marketplace (1) J: Craig Ferguson 221×1T: Regan Todd
Seems to be getting better and better does Captain Cool (4) has been great in all runs this time and gets a chance to roll forward again here and control this from the top. With his terms, he’ll be hard to run down in the last of the night too.
Selections: 4-5-10-7-2
4. Captain Cool (4) J: Jonny Cox 12412T: Korbyn Newman
