Matt Markham gives his best in all races at Addington Harness on Friday 22 May.
Came from a mile off Axel Rose last week and ran him very close and there’s every chance Didn’t Di (4) is going to be a whole lot closer in the running this week. That high speed is as good as anything going around at the moment in the trotting ranks in Canterbury and a show of it again here should produce a win.
Selections: 4-10-8-6-1
4. Didn’t Di (4) J: Blair Orange 13252T: Matt Purvis
A dangerous prospect in more ways than one, what Song Of Seas (14) does in the score up is going to determine how she goes here. Because, with her best manners, she’s more than capable of making her away around this field and running them off their feet late. But it all hinges on what unfolds early.
Selections: 14-7-5-11-9
14. Song Of Seas (5) J: Ricky May 30137T: Tom Bagrie
Big run here last week from Fiery Bandito (7) after working up onto the speed down the back straight and then really trying to put them to the sword. On the way up still and looks primed tonight to make a real serious play and if he can get around cheaply, then look out.
Selections: 7-2-6-3-1
7. Fiery Bandito (7) J: Kirstin Green 16123T: Kirstin Green
Went back from the draw in the Uncut Gems last week, but Radha (8) was quite nice through the line. Back in a grade tonight where he could make his own luck if required, he looks a great each way chance. Won’t get it easy but can rough it with anything in the field.
Selections: 8-12-10-4-13
8. Radha (8) J: Matthew Williamson 0x316T: Craig & Aimee Edmonds
The last start win of Master McGoogan (7) was no fluke, there’s a serious motor there. Can take the next step up here off the back of that and use the confidence to really chase another win. Always tricky in the 2YO Trots, but looks the most likely off what we saw last time.
Selections: 7-4-3-6-8
7. Master McGoogan (7) J: Matthew Williamson 41T: Matthew Williamson
Has done all that has been asked of him to this point has Roger That (2) and no surprise to see him extend the winning streak here tonight either. Gets the barrier draw advantage on main rivals and looks set to be in all the right places at all the right times. Will to win is there and he’ll need it too.
Selections: 2-5-3-7-4
2. Roger That (2) J: Carter Dalgety 111T: Cran & Chrissie Dalgety
Just getting back to free-for-all conditions is a big win for Eurostyle (9). She’s been chasing off some big handicaps and mixing it with the best of the best. Won this race last year and did it in style too and if she can go even 90 per cent of that this year she’ll win again.
Selections: 9-14-7-13-1
9. Eurostyle (9) J: Kimberly Butt 22747T: Derek & Adele Jones
After blowing the cobwebs out last week, Jumal (3) got the perfect draw this week to grab himself another big Gr.1. Should roll to the front and dictate things and we haven’t really seen anything to suggest that there’s anyone out there primed and ready to really step it up and push him to the max. The night’s multi booster.
Selections: 3-8-5-2-1
3. Jumal (3) J: Blair Orange 11311T: Steven Reid
Seriously one of the best finds of the country cups scene this season is It’s Tough (13). He hasn’t run a bad race and he’s run some super races too. Has a handicap to deal with here and a big field over the 3200m, but has shown he’s more than capable from coming off the speed and being just as dangerous. His race to lose.
Selections: 13-4-8-9-7
13. It’s Tough (13) J: John Dunn 12112T: Robert & Jenna Dunn
Two really good runs back from a spell by Irish Dream (1) and did well last week to come from back on the home bend to run into second behind Mostert. Should be a spot close this week and with the right trip on the back of the fave gets a chance to out sprint him late.
Selections: 1-2-8-10-9
1. Irish Dream (1) J: Gerard O’Reilly 85×22T: Colin & Julie DeFilippi
