Matt Markham gives his best in all races at Addington Harness on Friday 15 May.
Sat off the speed here a fortnight ago and made the rivals look second rate and Trump Card (8) will look to do the same again. Bit of a step up and there’s a few handy ones in here so will need to be good, but is more than capable.
Selections: 8-9-13-1-10
8. Trump Card (8) J: Olivia Thornley 78×31T: Hayden & Amanda Cullen
A lot of signs last campaign that Dornish Hill (9) was a horse to look out for this time and the recent Ashburton trial suggested it’s been worth the wait. Cops a wide draw here on debut, but looks capable of rolling forward and finding a spot on the speed. Can win first up.
Selections: 9-8-3-5-1
9. Dornish Hill (9) J: Blair Orange 32xT: Ken Barron
Bit of work to be done from the outside of the second row here, but Jukebox Gypsy (15) looks so well placed in this final. Never runs a bad race and with a guaranteed good tempo up front, should be able to stay out of all the early rush and then get into late.
Selections: 15-12-5-3-9
15. Jukebox Gypsy (6) J: Sarah O’Reilly 21184T: Gerard O’Reilly
A really nice trotter heading places, Axel Rose (3) didn’t have a lot of favours last time when stopped on by the leader around the final bend but found the bend with purpose. Bad luck might not be in the equation tonight and if able to find the front then won’t look back.
Selections: 3-12-13-5-6
3. Axel Rose (3) J: Matthew Williamson 1×322T: Matthew Williamson
She doesn’t win them out of turn but Ruby Roe (9) never usually goes a bad race in this kind of set up. Will need a bit of luck from outside of the second row, but if she’s close enough turning for home, then she’ll be charging home over the top of them all.
Selections: 9-8-3-7-11
9. Ruby Roe (9) J: Nathan Williamson 24926T: Nathan Williamson
The question isn’t perhaps whether or not Jumal (9) will win this, but more how he will make it happen from the wide draw. Could just blast across and lead for fun and leave them chasing but could drop back and look to loop into wide. Shouldn’t matter either way.
Selections: 9-6-4-2-1
9. Jumal (9) J: Blair Orange 11131T: Steven Reid
There was something a little extra about the win of Wat Fun (1) here a couple of weeks ago, a performance that perhaps highlighted her as the potential top liner of the group. Ace draw here looks ideal and she should be very hard to beat.
Selections: 1-9-3-4-10
1. Wat Fun (1) J: Olivia Thornley 21T: Hayden & Amanda Cullen
Hard to ignore Tetrick (3) because when he’s been good, he’s been so good this campaign. Has it all in front of him and if he can get away well and find a nice spot early then he becomes the horse they all need to beat here inside the final one mile.
Selections: 3-6-1-5-9
3. Tetrick (3) J: Carter Dalgety 11741T: Cran & Chrissie Dalgety
Really good run here last week behind Marketplace by Sideshow Bruce (6). Looks destined for bigger and better things and after winning this race last year is well favoured to do it again too. The Box Seat Boost for this week as well, find the extra price on the Futures tab.
Selections: 6-4-2-8-3
6. Sideshow Bruce (6) J: Bob Butt 27×14T: Bob Butt
Charged from back in the field last time out and only just yielded late to Forever Miki who has since franked that form and tonight Mostert (2) looks primed to get another win on the board. Should find a handy spot from the draw and be prominent throughout.
Selections: 2-10-1-4-3
2. Mostert (2) J: Carter Dalgety x6122T: Cran & Chrissie Dalgety
