Most effective when on wet grass tracks, Evidently (3) might not get the absolute ideal surface here today but it should be damp enough to bring him right into play. Good draw to use too, so likely to roll forward and take up a good position which only further enhances the chances.

Looked a quick winner first up this campaign with a bold second at Blenheim, but not much has gone to plan for Help Me (7) since. Finds a pretty winnable race here though and if able to get away well and find a good spot then should be right in the business end of proceedings.

A really strong debut effort from Selsey Mae (4) at Methven last time out to finish third in a handy enough maiden field. This is no harder and with the aid of race experience should be really in the fight here today. Very even looking field but her form should stack up well.

More bad than good of late from Senior Constable Liz (2) and gets a few important ticks today that enhance the winning prospects. Blair Orange is the most obvious one, but a good draw to work from is another and if able to land on the speed then should be well on the way to victory in this field.

Never expected it would take this long for Ultimatum (6) to win a maiden, but here we are. Will not get a better opportunity than the one presented today to make something happen though and it really does seem as though only bad luck will have him beaten.

He’s been out of form for a while now but Tempo Warrior (9) presents as a great opportunity to return to form here. Has taken on and beaten better fields than this in years gone by and if with a quick beginning should be up on the speed early enough and from there be very hard to beat.

A really sharp trial last weekend at Ashburton signalled that Son E (14) was ready to put the demons of a horror trip to the coast behind him and even off the 10m handicap here looks a really strong each way hope. Can fly the tape in the right mood and no surprise to see him on the speed early and looking to dominate.

Never got warm at Rangiora on Sunday but Logan Rock (5) can really turn that around here sharply from a nice barrier draw today. Prior form had all been fantastic and would need to go much better than that to be a major player in this wide open field to end the day.
