Matt Markham gives his best in all races at Invercargill Harness on Thursday 2 April.
Few tricks up the sleeve, but when Daisymerollin (6) gets the mind on the job she can be quite effective. A really strong second three starts back would be good enough to win this race nine times out of 10, just needs to trot away and get into the right rhythm.
Selections: 6-2-1-7-3
6. Daisymerollin (6) J: Brent Barclay 56204T: Brett Gray
High speed pacer Nek Delight (6) might look to win this one within the first few hundred metres. If she can blast across them early and find her way onto the front then they might be chasing a shadow here because she’s pretty sharp when she’s on the job.
Selections: 6-1-2-4-5
6. Nek Delight (6) J: Mark Hurrell 13726T: Craig Ferguson
Backing Rise Up N Dance (1) can be a bit of risky business as he disappoints more than he tends to please. However, he’s sliding back down the grades again and finds a really nice race this week in which to attack. Good draw means he’s not going to be far off the speed and looks the horse to beat.
Selections: 1-2-6-3-4
1. Rise Up N Dance (1) J: Nathan Williamson 32497T: Nathan Williamson
In a field that is devoid of any real standouts, Our Twinkle (13) might be the one to deliver here. Has more ability than most and is likely to go the furthest in the career. The problem is the draw, will have to get around them all at some point. That said, should be able to do that and looks a live hope.
Selections: 13-1-11-4-3
13. Our Twinkle (5) J: Nathan Williamson 21707T: Brett Gray
He’s found a bit of pep in the step of late has Captain Amore (10) and there’s no reason, given the way he’s been going, that he can’t add another win to the record here today. Might be just simply a little better than them and a bit too quick too. Work to do from the draw, but should be going close.
Selections: 10-2-9-8-7
10. Captain Amore (2) J: Brad Williamson 32521T: Alister Black
One for the brave here, but the work late of Florence The Machine (7) last time out when in a fresh state was exceptionally good and anything close to repeating that her would be good enough to win. Just needs to trot all the way again and looks well in play.
Selections: 7-9-6-8-4
7. Florence The Machine (7) J: Matthew Williamson x7905T: Matthew Williamson
A few reputations were left dented from Miki’s Deal’s hit and run mission at Alexandra Park. A huge effort. Back down in the home province again here and into a small field that looks well within reach for her. She should be able to dominate this field from the outset and win again.
Selections: 6-4-2-3-5
6. Miki’s Deal (6) J: Matthew Williamson 90×11T: Brett Gray
A first starter from the Nathan Williamson barn with plenty of trial and workout form on the board, Schemeandream (1) should be very hard to beat here today. The inside draw is a huge plus and as long as we don’t get trapped away on the fence, she should be right. Good field though, so will need to be good.
Selections: 1-9-3-2-8
1. Schemeandream (1) J: Nathan Williamson T: Nathan Williamson
A sharp effort on Sunday at Wyndham from Haley Jaccka (6) beaten narrowly by two really good mares in Beach Day and Ruby Roe. Nothing of their quality here and while she doesn’t win them out of turn this does look a race she should be right in the think of.
Selections: 6-7-5-1-4
6. Haley Jaccka (6) J: Matthew Williamson 24753T: Brett Gray
