A short priced favourite to start the day and perhaps a stack load of multis on Diamonds Day, Princess Lisa (1) really should be winning. Has been good this time in and this isn’t a very strong field. The ace draw is perfect and with a run on the markers near the speed looks set to win.

Still on the way up after a long time away from the track, you get the feeling this is the race Fiery Bandito (7) has been aiming towards. Big and bold when he’s in a nice rhythm, if he can work into it at the right time here then he’ll have this field at his mercy.

The drums of Southland are beating and they have been for a while that when Turn N Burn (3) gets back to the races, he won’t be staying a maiden for too long. Some sharp public work ahead of this resumption and from the good draw he looks to have this field under control on what we’ve seen.

Just really good work of late from Blaze Lightening (7). Doesn’t seem to run a bad race ever and equally doesn’t mind doing a bit of the donkey work. Widish draw here, but should be rolling forward and if able to find the front then will take a power of catching.

This has been the target for a wee while now for Roger That (2) and after a good blow out of the cobwebs a couple of weeks ago, should be primed and ready to rock and roll today. Nice draw to use and a few options for Dalgety to ponder but he’ll be fighting out the finish.

The real version of Dreams Are Free (3) stepped out last time and showed his quality with a brilliant win. Can go on with it too and with a key advantage early over some major rivals, has to get the start right and land as far in front of them as possible. Can do that and then make them pay late.

Really good work lately from Chicago Sky (10) and she seems to be getting better and tougher with more racing under her belt. Second row draw looks OK as a very good follower of speed and there looks to be a good tempo in front here. Can join in and have the final say.

A really nice price on offer today for The Queens Gambit (10). She’s a quality filly with Gr.1 form on the board and with a run under the belt will be dangerous here. Carter chooses her over the favourite too which has to come into play. A little luck and she’s the best each way chance of the day.

Really liked what we saw first up from Giorgio Denario (2) when finishing third. He’ll take a huge amount of benefit out of that run and from the good draw is a major player here. Has options early but is a nice staying type who will relish the good tempo and can surprise a few late.

A horse with a huge motor, Axel Rose (13) caught the eye first up with a fast-finishing third. That run under the belt will mean a huge difference this week and if the manners are there expect a confident drive which in turn should net a really positive result.

No fault in anything Dame West (7) has done to date and chased home hard behind a smart one last time. Finds a winnable race here and with key rivals drawn the second row might have to roll forward early and take a bit of control of this. Dangerous if that happens.
