With a little more reliability than most in the first of the day, Meandad (7) gets the nod over some rivals. Generally pretty quick away from the standing start and should eat up the 30m handicap while others are still finding their feet. Good run last time and a repeat of that goes close.

Chipping away quietly and building confidence and experience in four runs to the races Rovert Decision (2) should be ready to break through now. Finds a very winnable race too and if able to get into the right spot early will take a power of beating on what we’ve seen in the past two starts.

She won’t them out of turn, but you can guarantee that Jukebox Gypsy (5) will always give you a great run for your money. Consistent as anything going around in Canterbury at the moment and finds a winnable race here, she just needs the right kind of trip.

Decent step back in grade for Clonakilty (1) here today after taking on some pretty smart fields up at Addington in recent runs. Lands the ace draw and gets Carter in the bike which is another big tick. Should be able to hold up from the inside, but a trip in the trail isn’t the worst result either.

First up for the Dalgety team, The Merc (3) has always been a pretty capable trotter. He’s run two seconds in trials to ready for this behind some smart types in Zoltan Boscik and Love N The Port and looked good doing it too. Manners the key but with them will be hard to catch.

Has done everything but win so far this campaign Show Stopper (2) but all three runs have been in very good fields at Addington. Sneaks down here for an easy kill and finds the right kind of race to make it happen. A confident drive will net a confident result.

Really good work of late from Kowhai Star (10) and after two good seconds in the last two runs looks ready to get back into the winners’ circle again. Should get a nice run through from the second row here and with a clean shot at them might be a little too slick.
