Matt Markham gives his best in all races at Invercargill Harness on Sunday 1 March.
An impressive winner at Winton on Thursday, Princess Lisa (1) gets a crack at the same grade here and will do so from a much better marble too. Really knuckled down to get the job down on Thursday and with a sweet trip here might be able to join in when it matters most.
Selections: 1-8-6-3-4
1. Princess Lisa (1) J: Anthony Butt 22851T: Steve & Amanda Telfer
Did it tough sitting outside the leader on Thursday and fought bravely to finish third and you’d think with that experience under the belt that Seaside Charlie (6) will be primed for victory today. Looks a nice horse in the making and as long as quick back up is no issue, should go close.
Selections: 6-7-5-2-1
6. Seaside Charlie (6) J: Mark Hurrell 3T: Tyler Dewe
A first starter from a strike-rate stable with Blair Orange in the bike and some tidy trial form, Why Not Me (1) ticks a lot of boxes. Should be in all the right places and has certainly shown enough to be a strong winning hope in this line up.
Selections: 1-5-3-7-2
1. Why Not Me (1) J: Blair Orange T: Des Baynes
An eye-catching effort on Thursday from Share A Dream (3) rattling home for third in a much stronger field than this. On the way back up and can strike quickly and get back in the winners’ circle and this looks an ideal opportunity.
Selections: 3-4-2-1-5
3. Share A Dream (3) J: Mark Hurrell 00543T: Tyler Dewe
The mobile conditions of today’s assignment play right into the hands of He Aint Fakin (1). Should be able to hold his own out of the gate and if he stays in front and can bowl around Invercargill well then he’ll take all sorts of catching.
Selections: 1-5-6-2-4
1. He Aint Fakin (1) J: Brent Barclay p8313T: Phil Williamson
She’s looked pretty smart in almost all of her trials and workouts and now Aaliyah (9) gets a chance to show it on race day. Her mother won this race six years ago and while there’s some work to do from the wide draw she looks capable of handling it.
Selections: 9-1-5-8-7
9. Aaliyah (0) J: Matthew Williamson T: Matthew Williamson
Got it wrong last time out but the fresh up win from Ah Dinnae Ken (9) was exceptional and anything close to a repeat of that here would be good enough to win. Just needs to get in front of Mor Moonlight early to make it happen.
Selections: 9-11-7-2-6
9. Ah Dinnae Ken (0) J: Craig Ferguson 22×18T: Craig Ferguson
Given the horses he’s been racing and finishing in behind in his last handful of starts, this looks a great chance for Hadron Collider (7) to break through. A progressive pacer with it all in front of him he is well placed here and the one they need to beat.
Selections: 7-2-5-6-10
7. Hadron Collider (6) J: Blair Orange 64223T: Hayden & Amanda Cullen
One of the better up and coming pacers in the deep south, Ebonezy (2) lands a perfect draw today to really stamp her class. A smart one drawn to her outside, but she should find the markers first and with the right trip can be a little too slick.
Selections: 2-3-6-8-7
2. Ebonezy (2) J: Blair Orange x2411T: Des Baynes
