Nothing wrong with the public appearances of St Lucia (1) ahead of today’s debut. Has run quicker times than both rivals in trials and with the aid of the inside draw, gets the choice of options early. Not a lot to split the three, but markers can be the difference.

A bit of a raw talent is Soul Artist (1) and while beaten last time out was very brave in finishing second. Inside draw here in a field that looks well within range means she might be just a little too fast and a little too good for her rivals tonight.

After a good spell, Sugar Ray Lincoln (4) returns here tonight for the next phase of his career. The big pacer will face his first stand start test and if he can catch it right then a new world of possibilities open up for him. Won’t be easy but his Auckland form is great and should stack up very well here.

Sharp start to the career from Midfrew Lando (2) and while beaten down at Palmerston North, was far from disgraced in running second. Better for that trip away and should land in a good spot here from which to launch a pretty serious attack on this race.
