Matt Markham gives his best in all races at Ashburton Harness on Wednesday 25 March.
A lot to like in the runs back from a spell by Monkee Major (2) and the strong second to Unico Realta last week at Addington should really stack up well here. Gate speed to lead and with own terms in front should be able to stack them up and then sprint them home.
Selections: 2-1-7-4-8
2. Monkee Major (2) J: John Morrison 8×562T: Tony Barron
Big run in a good field at Addington last Friday night from Kotare Kelso (6). This is a decent step back down in grade and if able to cross them from wide out again then should probably have a little too much class for this field. Has been very good in much better fields.
Selections: 6-4-3-2-1
6. Kotare Kelso (6) J: Samantha Ottley 29004T: Matt Purvis
Still very much in the learning phase of the trotting caper but with her ability as a pacer Dynasty (11) has plenty of experience on the track. Effortless win fresh up last time out and anything close to that, despite the rise in grade should be good enough to win again.
Selections: 11-5-2-10-9
11. Dynasty (0) J: Seth Hill p10x1T: Bob Butt
A couple of handy efforts of late from Ar Gee Rulz (3) and Ashburton is a track he’s performed on well in the past. Nice draw to be handy throughout and with a decent bit of luck looks a really strong each way player in what is a wide open field.
Selections: 3-1-2-6-7
3. Ar Gee Rulz (3) J: Ben Hope 28674T: Greg & Ben Hope
A long time off the scene for Glaucus (8) but there’s always been plenty of ability there. Now in the John Morrison barn and has enjoyed a steady diet of trials and workouts. Should be ready enough to rock and roll in this field and looks set to run go close.
Selections: 8-10-6-2-1
8. Glaucus (3) J: John Morrison 4115xT: John Morrison
Sweet Bree (8) comes out of a very strong maiden field at Addington last time out where sixth. Plenty of winners set to come from that race alone. Wide draw not so bad here with favourite tucked away on the inside of the second row and gets a chance to steal a march. Expecting a confident Blair Orange drive.
Selections: 8-10-12-7-6
8. Sweet Bree (8) J: Blair Orange 246T: Steve Dolan
Really like Sheila Laxon (8) back on the all weather here today and things she can turn things around pretty sharply. Excellent fourth on this track four starts back and anything close to that here today would be just about good enough to win. Just needs that little rub of the green at the right time.
Selections: 8-6-10-2-13
8. Sheila Laxon (8) J: Sarah O’Reilly 94867T: Brent & Tim White
Back from a spell after taking one some pretty nice types in her last campaign, Sugar Babe (6) has had a couple of nice trials to ready for this and looks primed to resume in style. Not a deep field but a confident Carter Dalgety drive will have her on the speed and hard to stop in a fresh state.
Selections: 6-2-5-3-4
6. Sugar Babe (6) J: Carter Dalgety 8308xT: Cran & Chrissie Dalgety
