Matt Markham gives his best in all races at Winton Harness on Thursday 26 February.
The manners were a bit of an issue for Roseanna (5) over at Cromwell last weekend but getting back onto the all weather here might be the key to success. No doubting the ability is there to be winning, just needs to put it all together to make it happen.
Selections: 5-2-4-7-1
5. Roseanna (5) J: Brad Williamson 0450dT: Alister Black
He’s done everything but win this campaign Ramblin Rover (5) and looks a live chance of running another really bold race here today too. A chance to perhaps press forward early and look to take control of things and not look back.
Selections: 5-2-11-10-6
5. Ramblin Rover (5) J: Hayden Douglas 42204T: Brent McIntyre
Two great runs from Dame West (1) since breaking maidens in fine style last month. Has handled the step up in grade well and looks primed to get the sweet trip here just off the speed. Possesses a sharp turn of foot and with a bit of luck will be charging late.
Selections: 1-5-2-6-7
1. Dame West (1) J: Madison Kyle 32142T: Gavin Johnstone
Unsighted since taking on the best fillies in the land over Cup Week at Addington last year, Chicago Sky (2) comes into this on the fresh side but astute trainers will have her ready to rock and roll. Handy draw to work from and her class will take her a very long way.
Selections: 2-5-1-8-4
2. Chicago Sky (2) J: Brent Barclay 1243xT: Katrina & John Price
Rated highly last season as a talented two-year-old, Ramblin In (6) looks to have carried that ability through to the New Year judging by a really sharp Rangiora trial to ready for this. A horse with plenty of upside and should be able to dominate here.
Selections: 6-4-5-2-3
6. Stumblin In (6) J: Blair Orange 2214xT: Regan Todd
A debutant from the Tyler Dewe barn, Seaside Charlie (3) has looked every bit a quick winner in public runs leading into today’s assignment. Gets a good draw to work from in an even field so likely to be on pace and out of trouble and hardest to beat.
Selections: 3-10-11-1-9
3. Seaside Charlie (3) J: Mark Hurrell T: Tyler Dewe
A lot more to like about some of the recent efforts of Geena’s Gift (7) and a win doesn’t look too far away from unfolding. Nice odds on offer today, especially on the each way, to perhaps break that run of fourths and get a real serious look at success. Wouldn’t need to go much better.
Selections: 7-5-11-4-1
7. Geena’s Gift (7) J: Tim Williams 69444T: Lyndon Bond
Thought enough of to take on some of the best young fillies in the land last season, Miki’s Deal (5) resumes here today and will be out to kick off in the right fashion. High quality pacing filly going forward and ff a sharp workout should be ready to rock and roll.
Selections: 5-2-3-10-1
5. Miki’s Deal (5) J: Matthew Williamson 4690xT: Brett Gray
