Matt Markham gives his best in all races at Winton Harness on Sunday 8 February.
Hard to find any fault in all of the runs from Ramblin Rover (4) since joining new quarters late last year. Consistent and racing really well and deserves a winning turn. Gets a chance here with a good draw to work from and should be the one to beat.
Selections: 4-1-7-5-8
4. Ramblin Rover (4) J: Hayden Douglas 43422T: Brent McIntyre
Bested by a pretty smart one last time out but there shouldn’t be any such problems here today for Skinny Dippin (3). Looks set to roll forward early and find the front and from there shouldn’t really be run down on what we’ve seen so far.
Selections: 3-4-5-6-1
3. Skinny Dippin (3) J: Kirstin Green 372T: Kirstin Green
Doesn’t win them out of turn but Babe On The Beach (6) does enough each start to keep the hook baited for next time. Finds a winnable race today and with a bit of luck during the running can be in the right spot to pounce here.
Selections: 6-3-2-4-1
6. Babe On The Beach (6) J: Wilson House 32284T: Craig Ferguson
Newcomer to the Lauren Pearson stable after showing some good ability up in Canterbury but Shadow Of The Moon (1) could never seem to put it all together on race day. That might change here. Nice draw to use and looks primed to run a big race.
Selections: 1-2-9-3-10
1. Shadow Of The Moon (1) J: Brent Barclay 3045xT: Lauren Pearson
Probably not a trotter in the country at the moment racing with the kind of confidence that Racey Krusa (11) is at the moment. Just winning them for fun. Big step up here and won’t just trot to the front like has been happening but still the one to beat.
Selections: 11-12-13-7-9
11. Racey Krusa (2) J: Wilson House 31111T: Amber Hoffman
Back-to-back victories for Tua Lipa (6) and with the confidence levels high is looking to keep the run going here. Winnable race too as should be able to slot into a handy enough spot early and then from there unleash over the top of them late.
Selections: 6-2-1-7-5
6. Tua Lipa (6) J: Hayden Douglas 32311T: Shane Matheson
Got away on even terms last week and while beaten Hobbs (19) was far from disgraced. Clearly very talented but also still very raw too. Can turn things around here though and make a big push toward success in this line up with another good beginning.
Selections: 19-17-7-13-18
19. Hobbs (0) J: Bruce Wallace 12252T: Bruce Wallace
Sharp customer back in action after a few weeks off following a busy start to the year and expect Always Dreaming (4) to hit the ground running. Will look to jump and run here and if left in front and to his own accord then they’ll need to be good to beat him.
Selections: 4-6-5-3-2
4. Always Dreaming (1) J: Matthew Williamson 75412T: Nathan Williamson
Stepped out against the big girls in the Gr.2 at Addington last week and Tosana (8) while beaten was far from disgraced. Loves this part of the world and even from the wide draw can really make her presence felt in this with the right opportunity.
Selections: 8-6-4-10-9
8. Tosana (8) J: Mark Hurrell 13130T: Darren Keast
Pretty smart horse in the making is Ebonezy (9) and had she drawn anywhere other than the inside of the second row she would have started a dominant favourite. May still do that. Only needs a fraction of luck to clear space and she’ll be hard to beat.
Selections: 9-5-6-2-4
9. Ebonezy (9) J: Blair Orange 5×241T: Des Baynes
