Matt Markham gives his best in all races at Cromwell Harness on Friday 20 February.
Never really got warm in her resuming run at Gore last week but Shezza Vinny (2) was first up since November so should have taken plenty of benefit from that performance. Nice draw to use here and as a previous winner on the grass ticks a couple of boxes at a nice price.
Selections: 2-1-5-6-7
2. Shezza Vinny (2) J: Brent Barclay 23137 T: Matt Brinsdon
Any debutant from the Stonewall Stud barn is enough to sit up and take notice of but a well bred three-year-old filly like Premier Arden (1) at Cromwell really grabs the attention. Nice trials to prepare without setting the world on fire but should have the class edge on most here from the good draw.
Selections: 1-10-5-3-9
1. Premier Arden (1) J: Nikita Burton T: Steve & Amanda Telfer
With the runs on the board and manners in check, Garrone (4) stands out today. Has been doing everything but win over the past few months and drawing in nice and close to the markers should land in front here and prove very hard to run down.
Selections: 4-3-9-11-7
4. Garonne (4) J: Kirstin Green 72232 T: Kirstin Green
He’s taken on much stronger maiden fields than this and been very good and Stumpy Blackler (5) has shown enough to suggest he’ll be very hard to beat today. A nice progression through his first few starts and will grab one this weekend whether it’s today or on Sunday.
Selections: 5-3-1-4-7
5. Stumpy Blackler (5) J: Nikita Burton 82522 T: Steve & Amanda Telfer
Doing his best work through the line last time out, Heza Cool Dude (6) really caught the eye with a strong finish. Furnishing into a handy wee racehorse and with a good beginning here should land close to the speed and give them all plenty to think about.
Selections: 6-9-1-7-2
6. Heza Cool Dude (6) J: Brent Barclay p5214 T: Kevin Brosnahan
There’s still a lot to learn but the raw ability of Now Watch Me (7) is quite exciting and down here to chase a penalty free victory he should grab one over the weekend. Not a deep field, but he does take on some experienced campaigners so will have to bring his best. Right driver in the bike to make it happen.
Selections: 7-5-3-1-2
7. Now Watch Me (7) J: Wilson House 21 T: Regan Todd
There’s a chance Mystic Magic (12) may never live right up to all the potential she showed early on in the career but in this field today she should be good enough, even fresh up, to sit off the speed and be a bit too classy for this field. A little luck at the right time and she’s away.
Selections: 12-7-3-9-8
12. Mystic Magic (0) J: Nikita Burton 1055x T: Steve & Amanda Telfer
A handy run last week at Addington in a very good field by Dreams Pat (5) makes for good form leading into this assignment today. Raw talent is there, but the manners often let him down. If he brings his best he’ll probably win and it’s for that reason he’s on top.
Selections: 5-8-7-6-2
5. Dreams Pat (1) J: Robbie Holmes 76663 T: Robbie Holmes
Unseen at the races since finishing in behind Marketplace and Got The Chocolates, Always Be Batman (6) resumes for a new spell here. Talented horse and a really good workout last week has him ready to rock and roll, he might just be a little too good for them.
Selections: 6-4-3-5-2
6. Always Be Batman (6) J: Hayden Douglas 41946 T: Jeremy Douglas
