Matt Markham gives his best in all races at Cambridge Harness on Wednesday 4 February.
Doesn’t win them out of turn, but the recent form Skys Legacy (1) is good enough to see that change here tonight. Not a lot went right at Taupo last time out but with the aid of the inside draw and the right man in the bike, should be right there fighting the finish out.
Selections: 1-9-4-3-8
1. Skys Legacy (1) J: David Butcher 92365T: Arna Donnelly
Well backed on debut, Soul Artist (10) received no favours in running and no luck up the straight. Out to atone for that here and even off the second row should be able to do so. Looks a nice type in the making and can get win No.1 on the board.
Selections: 10-12-1-2-7
10. Soul Artist (10) J: Zachary Butcher 5T: Rodney Frampton
A dominant display at Taupo from Dominus (9) who manages to stay in the same grade following the win too. Steps back to amateurs here and has to come off the second row but all we need is a little clear air down the back straight and he should wear them down.
Selections: 9-8-5-7-2
9. Dominus (9) J: Andrew Sharpe x8181T: Zev Meredith
Chased valiantly in a losing cause at Taupo but Very Majestic (10) looks really well placed here tonight. Just needs a good beginning from the 10m handicap and can be in front of a lot of these when they settle. Well on the way to victory from there.
Selections: 10-9-7-8-11
10. Very Majestic (0) J: Peter Ferguson 33682T: Robert & Jenna Dunn
A long way from being at the business end of his racing career yet, Rough And Ready (6) just keeps stepping out and producing bold efforts. Chased hard on both days at Hawera and the small field here is a huge assist. Really hard to beat.
Selections: 6-5-4-2-1
6. Rough And Ready (0) J: Kate Coppins 16122T: Arna Donnelly
You wouldn’t mind owning a stable full of horses like Ragnar Lothbrok (8) who turns up each week and runs a great race and generally is in the money. Wide draw here to use but with a bit of speed to the inside he’s lined up to storm home out wide late and get over the top of them all.
Selections: 8-2-3-1-7
8. Ragnar Lothbrok (8) J: Zachary Butcher 62352T: Arna Donnelly
Given it’s been an age since Sea Of Love (2) last ran a bad race, it’s hard to not make a case for winning chances here. Nice draw to use, a good even field to take on and wouldn’t need to go any better than some of the recent runs to salute.
Selections: 2-6-3-8-1
2. Sea Of Love (2) J: Taitlyn Hanara 62214T: David & Clare McGowan
In a good space at the moment Trifolium (9) and would deserve another winning turn if it comes here. A few to navigate early but with good manners and no bad luck should be the one they all need to beat tonight based off the recent efforts.
Selections: 9-3-2-10-4
9. Trifolium (0) J: Todd Mitchell 25223T: Andrew & Lyn Neal
